We Will Remember . This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Second World War. Take this time to honour those who fought and died for the freedoms we have today. Join the @oshawacity in their virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony starting at 10:30am on November 11th. Traditionally the OTSU works to help host an on campus event to allow the campus community to come together. As that is unable to happen this year, we will be taking the money that would traditionally be spent... on the event, and donating it to The Royal Canadian Legion. We encourage all who are able, to consider giving what they can. #LestWeForget

Textbook Broke: Last year we asked students how the price of textbooks has impacted their lives. This is not a system that works, and it is why we are advocating for Open Education Resources (OERs) to be instituted across Ontario Tech. . What are OERs? Freely accessible, open license assets, text, and digital media, that can be used for teaching. .... We are partnering with a team @ontariotechu to promote the use of OERs. The deadline to apply for the BIPOC Award is November 12th, 2020 . The OTSU stands with our student community in the fight against systemic racism and discrimination. As such, we created an award to assist members of the marginalized BIPOC community (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour). Both the OTSU, and our Societies contributed to the fund, totalling $8000 which was then matched by Ontario Tech, bringing the total to $16,000. . It is our hope that this fund can address ...the systemic inequality that disenfranchised BIPOC youth in our community. To apply for this fund, please login to your MyCampus portal.
