Join Us May 9th, 2020 in Toronto for the 3rd Annual Outdoor Collective - CALL FOR PRESENTERS NOW OPEN - https://mailchi.mp//join-us-may-9th-2020-in-toronto-call-f
SAVE THE DATE: SATURDAY MAY 9th, 2020 As we inch towards Spring it's time to start thinking about the 3rd Annual Outdoor Collective. This year's focus is "Building Capacity in an Uncertain World." This year's event will be held in Toronto Greenwood College School (and the surrounding parks, beltline, etc). This is to allow more people accessibility to the event, and to keep things fresh and affordable. The call for presenters will go out next week. Details will trickle out over the next several weeks, but for now, please save the date. If you are able, please also plan to join us on Sunday May 10th at the Evergreen Brickworks for the Grandtrees Walk. Details here: https://www.grandtrees.org/alive
Thank you to everyone who is the Outdoor Collective. The 2019 gathering was a great success because of all of you. The industry benefits from your dedication, your ideas, your ability to be real, your laughs and the the time you took for yourself to refuel. Until we meet again, continue to share your stories and talents as we work together to continue to deepen professional values, relevance and creativity of our work. Thank you once again to Camp Kandalore for being amazing hosts, Whitewater Brewing and Lake of Bays Brewing for sponsoring the event and all the presenters who shared valuable skills and lead thought provoking discussions.
This afternoon marked the first afternoon of the 2nd Annual Outdoor Collective. Looking forward to staring the sessions tomorrow. Another big thank you to Camp Kandalore for hosting.
Due to the late thaw and flooding danger in the surrounding area, Algonquin Park authorities have closed down the road to Camp Arowhon and we have needed to switch the venue for the 2019 Outdoor Collective. A big thank you to Camp Kandalore who has generously offered to host the event. Please check your email or the website for more information. Remember, there is still time to register. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

During last year’s fall ALIVE season, we had a day across all sites where we celebrated the camps, outdoor centres, expedition companies, and other wilderness f...ocused specialty providers that helped each instructor deepen their love of the outdoors, and develop their skills as an outdoor experiential educator. For that one day, we all wore clothing to represent the places that helped shape who we are. It was a day to celebrate and thank the vast array of people and places that gave each of us our strong foundation. From all of us at ALIVE Outdoors, THANK YOU to the endless organizations committed not only to teaching young people but also to mentoring instructors to be professional, committed, engaged educators and role models. ALIVE is still looking to add to our Fall 2018 team. Please help us spread the word. Apply here: https://www.aliveoutdoors.com/instructors In the comments section below, give a shout out to the places that helped shape who you are! Please share. #Repost @planetarowhon with @get_repost WAFA and WFR Recertification finishes up today ending the last certification course of the 2018 Collective. Thanks @wildmed
We hoped our time together would be valuable. We hoped people would come together and share. We hoped the sun would shine. We hoped the ice would melt and the water lines would work. We hoped for starry nights and new connections. We hoped to create a space for learning. We hoped the loons would sing at night. We hoped the Iron Chef Gauntlet would cause a stir! We hoped this would be the beginning of something special. All our hopes came true-- and more. Thank you to absolutely everyone who made this first Outdoor Collective memorable and meaningful.
The WRT re cert prepares to head to the river this afternoon. Thanks to instructor Matt Huston from Boreal River for running this program as part of The 2018 Outdoor Collective. @ Camp Arowhon
