#BettyWhiteChallenge To honour her memory. Betty was known as an advocate to animals and rescues throughout her amazing life. Betty enjoyed being the voice for... those that cannot speak for themselves. The #BettyWhiteChallenge was created to honor her memory and the work Betty did for rescues all over the world. On January 17th you can make a donation to the Fort McMurray SPCA in her memory to help save the lives of the animals she so loved. She will be truly missed by everyone she has touched. Thank you for being an animal advocate https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/69313 See more

Too Hot, can't cool down.... Heat Stroke, EEK! With all of this unreasonably hot weather - let's chat a bit... What does heat stroke look like? Dogs suffering f...rom heatstroke can have elevated breathing rates, dry or sticky gums, abnormal gum color, bruising in the gums, may appear lethargic or disoriented, and can have seizures! This can become an EMERGENCY VERY QUICKLY! Obvious ways to avoid Heat Stroke: -Please do not leave your pet unattended in a vehicle - temperatures rise rapidly in seconds! -Please do not leave your pet in a yard without access to shade or water on a hot day -Please do not exercise your dog in this weather - It is important to remember that dogs cannot control their body temperature by sweating as humans do since they only have a relatively small number of sweat glands located in their footpads. Their primary way of regulating body temperature is by panting. **Dogs with a restricted airway such as brachycephalic breeds (flat-faced dogs such as pugs, boxers, and bulldogs) are at greater risk. In these breeds, clinical signs of heat stroke can occur when the outside temperature and humidity are only moderately elevated. I think my dog has heat stroke, what now? Hyperthermia is an immediate medical emergency. Safe, controlled reduction of body temperature is a priority. Cool water (not cold) may be poured over the head, stomach, armpits and feet, or cool cloths may be applied to these areas. If using cool wet cloths, these should be continually replaced, or they will start to retain heat. Ensure a continuous flow of air across the dog to help increase evaporative heat loss until treatment is received at your veterinary hospital. Stay safe in this heat wave wave! If any of your pets are showing signs contact your Veterinarian ASAP, this is not a dog specific concern! ~Your Team WBSAH #toohot #nohotpets #heatstroke #veterinary #ymmdogs #ymmcats #ymmpets #ymmvet #ymm
