One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in life so far is to choose who you spend your time with wisely. Surround yourself with people who see your potential and accept you for who you are. The ones that feel like sunlight. People who challenge you, encourage you, teach you, and bring out the best in you. Yesterday was a beautiful day @besocialwithlauren @ Guelph, Ontario

A few weeks ago I went for a hike with my dad and our family pup Rosie. Other than the grass, everything was rather brownish still. Amongst the dead leaves and bare trees, I suddenly stumbled across something odd that made me gasp. I thought they were fake... Out of nowhere, we came across this patch of vibrant yellow flowers with green stems amongst a pile of dead leaves. I had to take a closer look to see if they were fake because they were so out of place, a bizarre con...trast of colors and liveliness. These beautiful flowers had grown out of gloomy conditions and dead leaves. This moment was very symbolic for me. Up until then, I had been so focused on the news and the ways COVID was impacting my life. Struggling with the unknowns and fear. The bright yellow flowers brought me pure joy, hope, and perspective. They served as a reminder that the world will keep spinning, plants will keep growing, seasons changing. A reminder that just because it may feel like life is on hold, it's not. This is an experience from which we can learn and grow, find our strength. Brene Brown said, "the beauty of light owes its existence to the dark". Let this darkness be the reason we reflect and appreciate the light. Let us, like the flowers, grow out of gloomy rough conditions. Let us grow to appreciate our family, friends, and neighbors more than ever. Let this time remind us that it is a gift to be able to spend time with them, and how it feels to have that taken away. Let this time prove to us that community is alive and will come together during tough times. Humans are meant to be social beings, meant to need love, connection, interaction. In a time of advanced technology that was pulling us apart, let this tough time bring us back together. Let this force us to grow and reflect. Remind us that life is not to be taken for granted, and neither are our relationships. You are not in this alone. We will get through this, together. @ Puslinch, Ontario See more

The past couple weeks I have seen the most amazing ideas for things to do to stay connected during social distancing (or quarantine depending). I wanted to make a list to share of some of mine and my favourites. Here were some of my favourites: 1) Write Email Letters - this one is actually something my friend abroad and I do! 2) Virtual Happy Hour - thank you @shannoncrocker.rd ;)! Get your fav cocktail and that virtual chat going. ... 3) Host a Watch Party - pick a movie off Netflix and watch it at the same time as your friends. FaceTime and rate it after. 4) Stream Live Music - so many artists are generously doing live shows you can watch virtually with your friends. 5) Do an Online Yoga Class - can’t make it to weekly yoga with your pal? Plan classes virtually. 6) Pick Up The Phone - gotta love a good old phone conversation! See more
