As a Holistic Nutritionist, I have a few favourite vitamins and minerals. I’m often fascinated with their multiple roles. One of my favourite vitamins is Vitamin C (also known as Ascorbic. Acid). Did you know that as humans our bodies used to be able to make our own vitamin C, but, now, for some reason, we cannot? This makes Vitamin C essential for the body: it is a nutrient that we must get from food or supplementation to maximize our well-being. Organic sources of Apples (Gala Apples e.g. deliver about 10 mg), Arcerola cherries, Guavas, Elderberries , Kale, Bell peppers (red and green), Broccoli, Spinach and of course citrus fruits like Lemons, Limes and Oranges are rich in this important vitamin especially, when consumed fresh and raw. Supplementally we should take it in small, frequent doses on a daily basis to maximize absorption.
