For the last 25+ years we have always had many school bookings in December, but this year we couldn't to that. Instead, we created craft kits for the classroom, had brief, distanced, outdoor chats about Christmas traditions with students, and we sent the video below of Perth Town Crier reading T'was the Night Before Christmas. We thought you might enjoy it today, too The Museum and Visitor Information Centre is open today until 1:30 (so pop in for some last minute shopping!...), then we are closed until the lock down is lifted. Our very own Debbie Sproule will be receiving her service award for 30 incredible years with the Town of Perth today! Congratulations Debbie!! Did you know that Debbie has actually been working at the Museum since May of 1986? Her first few years were on contract through a grant, then she became a full-time employee with the Town in January of 1990. Debbie has given tours, run programs, baked gingerbread in the 1840s kitchen, baked tea biscuits in the stone bake oven (pictur...ed), installed exhibitions, updated displays, conducted research, worked in collections management, assisted researchers, provided customer service, sat on committees (including Lanark County Museum Network meetings), and so much more. She is a wealth of information when it comes to the Museum's holdings and Perth history. If you would like to watch Debbie receive her award, turn in to the Council meeting (broadcast live on Town of Perth's Facebook page) today at 1:00! Thank you for all you do, Debbie!

We’re working on a plan to reopen the Museum by appointment later this month so you can see artefacts like these! The pistols used in the last fatal duel in Upper Canada on June 13, 1833. Thanks for sharing, Perth Brewery!
