This is the last night in this location. It's been one helluva day But we're clunking dogeddly one step as we go. Our booked truck was not there for us due to the renter previous not returning truck and being a Long Weekend ... nothing available. Long overdue update: Upon returning from a very stressful trip to help my stepdaughter returned to Ladysmith. Stopped at shoppe to say hi to Beauty the shoppe cat ... Only to find that the ceiling had completely collapsed due to a serious flood from the upstairs suite. several months prior I had advised the landlord that there were issues with leaking water & he needed to address same. Well he apparently didn't bother to check with the tenants to ensure the repairs had be...en done. After speaking with the tenants, they told me they had never had the repairs done, hence what I walked into at 1:30am. i contacted the landlord immediately who did not bother to respond to me for three full days and only then because the police had called him regarding the ongoing nonsense with the tenants upstairs, was I able to speak to him. He refused to allow any professional to come in. The landlord didn't show up for another 2 days - with no one but a friend. No professional. He was here for approx 20 minutes then left after I had to force him to see the full extent of the damages. Not until 3 hrs later when I called the landlord and let him have it did he show up. He expected me to clean up the water, the collapsed ceiling. He didn't remove any damaged property, soaked thoroughly. It is now over 2 mo.later and he has done nothing. NOTHING! Oh pardon me, he did phone and leave me a msg tonight threatening me about the debris outside my store. Yes the debris caused by his negligence plus apparently refuse from the now departed upstairs tenants. On principle alone, it is not my job to clean up the debris from my shoppe nor is it my responsibility to clear up after bad tenants. The damages alone are thousands never mind lost business. Not one word of compensation. When I returned from assisting my stepdaughter, I had also just finished going through an emotionally exhausting time after the death of my mother. I came back with renewed energy and good will for my shoppe. And walked into a horror show. Due to the negligence and continued refusal to be responsible for his building, I sit here....ready to go to the Town and tell them my side. Tomorrow is a new day and you best know I will fight back. So before you walk past and judge me, know the story. If you wish to be supportive great! Know any good lawyers who do pro bono work?
