Plant Room Toronto 05.10.2020

A note on the Pink Princess Philodendrons picked up yesterday in Markham: they have been re-potted in a mix for aroids, which includes bark, sphagnum moss, charcoal, coir chunks, and perlite. The new pots are a little smaller than the originals as their roots are still small. They are healthy little plants, but fair warning - they will be a bit of work to get going. They’ll need warmth, humidity and light (but not too much, or they’ll burn). Just don’t want people to be disappointed, because a lot of folks have wanted this plant for a long time. But you should know they are not vigorous growers: Costa Farms, one of the biggest nurseries, does not include them in its programs for this reason. That said, they’re cute little plants and worth the challenge if you don't want to pay $50-$100 for a larger plant

Soft launch with a plant sale this weekend, as the weather is warming up! Please check https://www.plantroomtoronto.ca/pages/inventory for the plants available & weekend hours. Will be open by appointment Monday to Friday next week. The website went live this morning. Still lots to add to it, and it needs more photos, but it's a start!... Thank you for for being here P.S. if you are looking for a certain little pink plant that appeared on IG yesterday, I drove to Markham at 6 am this morning and scored some for you
