Proper Mindset to Perfect Practice Now that everyone has slowly started reemerging out from months of isolation and lockdown, hopefully, there are numerous outdoor activities for you to explore. I have noticed that there has become a heightened demand for bicycles in the city and a notable shortage of available supply. This is primarily due to commuters not wishing to continue with public transport and have adopted cycling as a means to get to work. Cycling has also become pa...rt of the cities initiative to promote exercise and facilitate mobilizing people to be active outdoors while maintaining safe physical distancing. If you have had the fortunate opportunity to explore bicycling like me this season, then you can appreciate the merits that this leisure activity has to offer. Not only is it a pertinent transportation alternative during these trying times, but it is also a great source of exercise. In short, it is an ideal habit worth cultivating. Like cycling, there are hundreds other active activities worthy of developing into a habit. A common element needed to sustain enough interest to cultivate healthy habits comes from learning how to maintain motivation. Initially, It's easy to become inspired to venture out and explore new activities. With warmer temperatures and easing restrictions, motivation is a no brainer. Top 3 Secrets to perfect practice We have all heard the expression practice makes perfect. It's almost intuitive to even a child to accept that the more time and effort you put into training for something, the better you are going to get at it. But is that actually true?... Have you ever put considerable effort into a hobby or personal objective only to discover that you have no talent, skill or flare for it? ......and that's even with intensive practice? The fact is it's not just about the practice. It's about the intention and purpose of the practice. After several years of lengthy scientific research in this subject, I have come to understand that there is definitely an ART to proper practice. The ultimate goal to mastery may be reflected in the acquisition of unconscious competence.- the ability to execute a fluid practice routine with no mental awareness or thought. However, for a practice routine to eventually become that efficient and productive, there must be a lot of deliberate planning and structural framework designed at the outset. This demands conscious effort. Practice efforts require initial focus and intention. They cannot be derailed by scattered distractions with multitudes of choices. The internet has provided us with an infinite amount of potentially conflicting information on every subject from diets to exercise, mental health, disease, relationships, musical training and learning skills. Research has shown that there is such a thing as too much information. Infinite information means limitless choices. Studies have shown that too many choices leads to decision paralysis. This leads to preventing focus and executing action. You can't set an intention if everything is competing to get your attention. The good news is there is a scientifically proven methodology in the design of a more productive practice routine. Please join me in today's blog as I uncover the secrets to the strategy of purposeful practice. https://www.askdrbahar.com/top-3-secrets-to-perfect-practi/ Remember. It's not about Practice makes Perfect, it's about Perfect Practice!

What is the most important ingredient in a successful new habit recipe ? Greetings from my isolated office spent in yet another week of hibernation. You probably have often heard the expression that quality is better than quantity. But when can it be said that quantity is better than quality?... Certainly not when we've been counting up the days and weeks of physical distancing and self confinement. And certainly not when you add up the number of days off work. The quality of weekends past was always greater than the quality of endless weekdays with no proper employment structure. So when does quantity matter more than quality? The answer is when cultivating new improved lifestyle habits. In order to successfully achieve transformation, small steady changes must be put into play each day with complete and constant consistency. The objective goal comes from achieving a long term established pattern. In the initial stages, it is crucial not to emphasis quality. That is not a productive short term objective and often ends up being a deterring factor to persevere when motivation and circumstances are compromised. It is much more important to focus on daily consistency and accept that there will be good days and challenging days. So if you want to get into a steady habit of daily walking/running/riding/working out/rehearsing/reading/ writing/ cleaning/ tidying or any hobby of your desire, its the stable quantity that counts. In the prior blogs, I revealed that the first two elements of habit authorization were the REMINDER and executed ACTION steps Please join me in today's blog as I uncover the third and final stage in the cycle of establishing reliable rhythms to your daily efforts. Here is the best solution What happens when you've made up tour mind to start a healthier lifestyle amid this unfortunate crisis only to find that your morale is often low and your attitude is getting in the way? How can you expect to pull off transforming your habits if you just don't feel like doing it ? Its hard enough to deal with the stress of managing to maintain personal health, hygiene and sanity a...midst financial worry and limited access to our family and friends. Cultivating a new healthy habit rhythm in a time of prolonged isolation. Here is the formula Good day to my fellow self-isolated enthusiasts. For the majority of us, it has been nearly two months since the state of emergencies were declared and restricted lockdowns and physical distancing mandates have been imposed. Have you managed to adequately adapt to the current situation yet?... It can often take weeks to months to settle into a new routine. Especially one as unprecedented as the current crisis we have been facing. Unfortunately for many, it feels as though we are perpetually stuck in a holding pattern. In order to raise morale, the government tends to relay the updated status of our predicament in small increments. Rather than inform the public of realistic, protracted extensions, they often declare 2 to 4 week extended closures. If we are truly going to accept that our present lifestyles have changed for an indeterminate period, its time to put new healthier lifestyle choices into play. There certainly is an extended opportunistic time do it. Have you noticed that you may have desired to try new tasks, projects or resolutions only to find that they haven't really taken off yet?( and its certainly not because there is not enough time!) The reason may be because in order for new patterns and routines to stick, a new habit must be cultivated. This does not happen by chance. It must be deliberate and intentional ,and it takes a bit of conscious effort at the beginning. The good news is it gets easier over time and well worth the initial struggle. The key to success is applying a strategically, research proven formula. Join me in this weeks blog as I uncover the first phase of putting your desired habit into action Be well and stay safe Warm Regards, Dr. Guy Bahar https://www.askdrbahar.com/cultivating-a-new-healthy-habit/.

Warm greetings inside my home office study room. I hope you have been managing during these uncertain times. By now you have probably settled into the beginning of a routine and have started to adapt to the restricted lifestyle in a closed environment. As new information unfolds, the directives from the ministry of health indicate that the situation involving isolation and personal distancing is going to remain in effect for an extended period. As these circumstances continu...e, you may have noticed that you are slipping into new patterns. Perhaps you've noticed that you are sleeping in more or that your sleep pattern has become disrupted during the night. Maybe you have turned to eat more comfort foods. Maybe you have used the spare time to prepare more elaborate meals. Are you taking more daily walks or are you finding yourself more sedentary than before? Are you reading more or watching more TV? All these represent new habits that are emerging from day to day living in an isolated environment. The question of concern is are you planning your behavioural conditioning or are you just letting things unfold moment by moment? The path, for the moment, is not that unclear. It is going be a long haul and we must adapt to the current situation. There is a fundamental choice that now exists. Are we going to choose the new habits we wish to embrace, or are we going to let our new habits choose us by default? There is, in fact, a great hidden opportunity here. If you are among the millions of people who are now temporarily unemployed or unable to continue with your trade, there is so much additional time to invest in personal development. Its the perfect time to pursue a new hobby, get into shape, plan a house project, catch up on reading/writing, and reconnect virtually with family and friends you don't otherwise have had recent contact with. The key to success starts with proactive choosing. Decide what resonates with you most. From there, its only a matter of applying a simple habit formula that will ensure that your new pursuits end up being sustained long after this crisis passes. Please join me today as we examine the best strategies involved in making the best habit choices for your future health and well being.
