Healing with professional support in today’s world has become a resource based privilege. Whether that resource is fluid finances or health care benefits, for the majority seeking professional help is secondary to accessing basic living necessities. It creates a vicious cycle. Stepping out of survival mode is hard, and healing physically or otherwise cannot he accomplished when in survival mode.... Healing is an investment into self in more ways than one, however for many making that kind of investment isn’t possible due to finances alone. This is why I came up with @thecommunitycarefund Many therapists I know do provide sliding scale and pro bono services- but this is only sustainable to a small extent for most of us. This isn’t a replacement for our privilege in this country for many healthcare services funded, however it is a chance for individuals to access allied therapeutic services if they are in a place where this will help them shift their reality but limited due to resources. So far @thecommunitycarefund has been able to fund six individuals along their healing journey with practitioners of their choice. It’s nothing big, but it’s a demonstration that a little community input is exponential at changing an individuals reality. Interested in getting involved?
