Take part in a new study investigating the impact of the COVID-19 shutdown on the health and welfare of dogs and cats. The #covid19 pandemic shutdown has had w...idespread and diverse effects across Ontario. For many families, their home has become the place for all of life’s activities, including work and school. As a result of these changes, our cats and dogs have also undergone dramatic changes in their daily lives. A team of researchers from the Ontario Veterinary College is leading a study to investigate the impact of household changes due to the COVID-19 shutdown on the health and wellbeing of dogs and cats in Ontario. This research team consists of Drs. Katie Clow, Scott Weese, Lee Niel, Shane Bateman and Andria Jones-Bitton. LEARN MORE https://uoguelph.eu.qualtrics.com/j/form/SV_6GdxIVsjrWhZKkZ

If you've recently opened your pool and will be spending more time in the backyard, remember to keep an extra eye on your pet. Although many dogs enjoy taking a dip, some breeds have difficulty swimming and can easily become exhausted while in the water. Also watch the cement around the pool, it can get really warm and burn the foot pads on dogs.

UPDATED PROTOCOL Due to the ever changing COVID-19 virus situation we are implementing the following changes to keep our clients and staff safe: 1) DO NOT ENTER THE CLINIC. We are asking you to call us when you arrive to the clinic parking lot so that we can admit your pet directly to the clinic. At this time we are not allowing clients into the clinic. The clinic phone number is 519-542-8118. 2) Pet food and medications can be ordered over the phone and payment can be m...ade at that time as well by credit card. 3) We can provide curb side pick up for items which are purchased. We appreciate your understanding at this time. The Rapids Veterinary Hospital
