You are not your feelings. When you say "I am" it makes you sound as if you are the emotion. Whereas you are you, and the emotion is a data source. Instead, try... to notice the feeling for what it is: "I am feeling anxious" or "I'm noticing that I'm feeling worried." This creates critical space between you and the emotion. Your emotion is a cloud, but you are the sky.

Stay with it, lean into it, expand around it, breathe into it, allow it to be there, welcome it, let it know that you see it, be curious about it, notice it, observe it. That is all.
Anger, irritation, agitation, frustration and rage are often cover up feelings. When you lift up that rock, youll notice whats underneath. So often, its grief, sadness, sorrow, shame and fear. Seeing whats really there, and meeting it with compassion will always create relief.

Wash the dishes. Take off the dust. Write a letter. Make some soup. Do you see? You are moving forward step by step. Take a step and stop. Get some rest. Compliment yourself. Take another step. Then another one. You won't notice, but your steps will grow bigger and bigger. And time will come when you can think about the future without crying. Like a lot of people, Ive been worried about the #coronavirus. And Ive been thinking about what to do, both out in the world and inside my own mind. The brai...n has evolved to react quickly to threats, and its easy for there to be a sense of helplessness associated with problems that appear far beyond our control. Thats why its so important to look for ways to be effective and express our agency, even if its only through how we choose to think about things.
