Finished the final step of my OCD 1 rebuilds last night. Because of the cooler temps I built a couple different shock packages; the one constant they do both have for the RCRE track are the MIP Bypass pistons. After both the Big Barn Thingy and the Silver State Race, I was ready to light these pistons on fire on my pit table and make a Ronefalkian display of rebellion...I'm glad I finally found a track where they are a benefit and not a liability. The price-point is a bit better than Flashpoint and Gord Tessmann is insisting they get better fuel economy with their proprietary oil blend than any other fuel available. I don't change brands often; I fear change. But this year I decided that after 3 years of supporting my friend Adam Drake's brands that it was time to support some of my other friends. This time it's the Tessmann brand of XRAY! I was nervous. This weekend was my first run with these brand new rides; I never ever go to a major event with buggies that have never seen dirt. I prefer to show up with broken in cars so I was mildly freaked out. All this was for not. Instantly, thes...e cars felt superior to my Mugen equipment from last season. I honestly didn't feel the point at which my buggies broke in; they were fast and easy to drive immediately. XB8E This was my first time running ebuggy in about 10 years; The XB8e worked flawlessly; minus a tiny oops by the builder #thatsnotloctite #airfilteroilinanebuggykit The buggy handled very closely to my Nitro kit with one exception; it has more on-power steering. The stability of this buggy is also a highlight. While the Barn track didn't have a ton of bumps there was a stair-case section which caused a lot of issues for a lot of racers. All weekend I only crashed once in this section and it was because I got a bit too hard on the brakes before the final stair and I landed completely sideways. The grip-flip was inevitable. XB8 Nitro This buggy is amazing. I have never driven a buggy with this much rear grip that still has as much steering as the XB8 does. The extra rear grip certainly complemented the INSANE power that my Adam Drake broken-in OS2101 had. No broken parts on either buggy; which is amazing considering how many times some squuid punted me off the track... The only thing I struggled with a bit was I didn't have enough of the tire that worked. I based my tire selections on last years track so I left my Pro-Line Slidelock's at home. Ty Tessmann gave me a gently used set that he was done with, but for the most part I ran S4 Holeshots; and they were good but if I got out of the driving line they were a handful. This is where the Slidelocks really showcased their superiority. Overall I'm blown away by the XB8. Really looking forward to the season of racing with it. My next race with them will be another indoor race: Silver State in Las Vegas at the beginning of May! #XRAY #XB8 #XB8E #NotCrap #RCDepot P.S. I am not sponsored by XRAY; or anyone.
