Time flies. Another year passes, another new year is coming. Our firm will be closing from December 15, 2019 to January 3rd, 2020. We will reopen again on January 6, 2020. 2019 Federal Budgets Summary: Please note this summary is based on Video Tax News's 2019 Federal Budgets Summary. You may find their video by clicking the link below: https://www.videotax.com//watch-caitlin-buter-cpa-ca-josep... 1. No change to personal tax rates and corporate tax rates. 2. No change to the CG inclusion rates 3. No review of tax system Included: 1. Housing - The amount for HBP (Home Buyer's Plan) increases from 25K to 35K for people who are first time home-buyers. CMHC can take on up to 10% of the mortgage. And more CRA activity looking for errors in tax and GST/HST reporting in the real estate sector, particular in BC and Ontario 2. Clean Energy - Personal rebate for up to $5,000 of acquisition of certain clean energy vehicles or, for businesses, 2 new CCA classes to write off such vehicles. 3. Media sectors - Personal credit for digital media subscription, able to issue charitable donation if CRA recognize the non-profit news organizations as charity and others. 4. Training - For person who is between the age of 25 and 65 who earns more than 10K income, if they are planning to go back to school, the person is able to use this $250 credit to cover up to half of the tuition expenditures, and this amount can be accumulate over years if not used. 5. Retirement - There's new option of annuity for registered plans. The annuity doesn't need to start making the payment until at the age of 85 so the tax deferral can be extend to the age of 85 years old.
