Hi there everyone, Joey here It seems like it's been a while since I made a post from this page ...that's probably because it has been? Today marks the 2 year anniversary since I started this plant based culinary adventure of mine and I just can't believe where I am now. I'm constantly overwhelmed with graditude. Because of all of your support over the past couple of years, I'm exactly where I want to be. So thank you all to the moon and back. This has led me to working b...eside James of NEAT & Potatoes at our very own restaurant, JJ's Plant Based Eats, which has been incredible. I couldn't ask for a better person to open this place with, you're the best man. Also, a special shout out to Kara & Cory of Selkie's Neighbourhood Diner & The Mermaid Food Truck and Val & James of Doktor Luke's - a respectable coffee house for pushing me to do what I wanted to do and to give me the space to start the dinner. You're all awesome. I just wanted to end this off with some good news: To all of you who had seats reserved before all of the storms last year and before covid-19 came out way, we'll be having a bunch of dinners this fall! ***Future Dinners Update*** Hi folks, I just wanted to take this time to give you all a little update on the few dinners we have left to do and dinners owed to Plantinum Memberships. Our plan at the River Filly is to complete these all over the next few months starting sometime in July by doing smaller, extremely social distanced dinners that suit you. We may switch up the menus a bit, but we will discuss this with you beforehand of course to make sure we design something you... will enjoy. We want to thank you all for being so understanding over the past few months, you truly are the best customers out there. As you all probably know by now, JJ's is back up and running and we'll be whipping up some plant based goodness there for you. This right here has got to be the BEST vegan option for a Poutine here on Cape Breton Island! Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy the poutine from Meltwich, but when I think of a vegan poutine, I think of it LOADED with veggies and Kim's Kitchen at The Mira Boat Club on the Mira River is exactly where to get one. First of all, that gravy! The flavor compliments the plant based cheese so well. The mix of veggies are cooked perfectly to add an extra level of texture that is ...missing in other options. It's just sooooooooo good. Thank you Kim for bringing this option (and a few other gems like a vegan grilled wrap and deep fried veggies), I'm sure this will be a hit just like all of the other menu items you have available. Home cooking update: Today was a bit of a slack day in the kitchen, I did make nachos with the homemade CheeZe I made and oh myyyy gaaaaawd... It was exactly what I needed.
