Here we see missing insulation. The hot summer day made it easy to spot from the inside, notice the yellowish orange colour. That's the missing insulation as seen from the inside. Now outside on the roof we can see a purple blue colour indicating the colder temperature from the inside air-conditioned space right where the missing insulation is. In this case the client thought there were no issue in their home to be found. Surprise! This was only one of several issues found.

Here we look at a typical skylight that shows water infiltration. In the normal view (what we see with our naked eye there looks to be very little damage. However, in the thermal image (what we cannot see with our naked eye) you can see a lot of moisture damage. This is a suspect area for mould growth and will soon break through the drywall. You could have stopped this catastrophic damage by having a (IR) Infrared thermal scan done earlier. This would have predicted a water leak ahead of any major damage to the structure.
