We were mentioned in Space Q's Saturday issue concerning our member telescope programs! Be sure to give it a read: https://spaceq.ca/rasc-robotic-telescope-enhances-quaranti/
Today commemorates the birth of the inventor of the touch system of reading and writing used by visually impaired and blind people, Louis Braille, born in 1824 and blinded at age 3. Member Tim Doucette @deepskyeye is legally blind, and has his own observatory - he shares his love of the night sky with many. https://www.deepskyeye.com/story #astrodiversity Aujourd'hui commémore la naissance de l'inventeur du système tactile de lecture et d'écriture utilisé par les malvoyants et les aveugles, Louis Braille, né en 1824 et aveugle à 3 ans. Merry Christmas! The story of Christmas includes astronomical events: a bright comet and a new star (probably a simultaneous planetary conjunction or distant supernova). May we accept all people to watch comets and stars together, regardless their religion.
Office Closure Notice for the Holidays: RASC National Office will be closed from Dec 24th at 12pm EST to Jan 4th at 9am EST. Have a safe and happy holiday season from all of us at RASC! #RASC
We got our conjunction shot last night! The GIF is now complete- at least up until the 21st. We'll keep taking more over the next few days and post a follow up later this or next week as Jupiter keeps cruising past Saturn. #TrackThePlanets The two planets are still pretty close together this evening and next, but it'll get harder and harder to see them as they get lost in the sunset. Did you get to see the planets in conjunction?
Most of Canada is looking pretty cloudy for the Conjunction... but tonight will be clear in California! We'll be livestreaming the scope with Explore Scientific USA tonight. They're livestreaming all day today (and have been livestreaming on and off since 2am last night!) so go give them a follow and tune in tonight! We'll be on with our scope around 8:30EST/7:30CST/5:30PST, but members of RASC will be on at various times after 6:30pm EST/5:30pm CST. See you all tonight! Here's last night's photo. So close together already! #TrackThePlanets
Only one day left until the conjunction, and the weather looks great (at least in California, where our telescope lives). What's the weather looking like where you are? Are you planning on observing in person or online? #TrackThePlanets

Our natural satellite goes through these phases every month, so you can observe the ones you missed. Keep enjoying the Moon! #Moon #moonlovers #astronomyfact #nightsky #astronomy : NASA/Bill Ingalls
NASA plans on working with its international and private partners to send the first woman and the next man to the Moon with its Artemis program. They plan on working towards sustainable space exploration, which will eventually lead to human presence on Mars.
