I think anyone who has ever been involved with the Food Bank Drive has found it to be an incredible, I call it a humbling experience, because it is amazing how... generous our community is, said Lori Pollack, the co-chair of the event. May 27th, 2020 The Salvation Army Food Truck is Opening in Grande Prairie Starting Wednesday, May 27th until Friday, June 4th, The Salvation Army is opening their CRU Community Response Unit (mobile food truck) for the public to access meals during this pandemic. ... The food truck will be parked at The Salvation Army downtown location, also known as the Food Bank. The Salvation Army will be open from 12:00pm 2:00pm Monday through Friday for take-out meals. People will be able to grab lunch and supper to go during these hours. The Salvation Army looks forward to the opening of their food truck in Grande Prairie and hopes to help our community thrive during this time. The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie’s COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund has officially finished up with more than $271,000 raised to help fill the shelves of regional food banks. The Rotary Dream Home helped The Salvation Army Food Bank by donating half of the proceeds of tickets purchased for the dream home for the Month of April, bringing the total to $219,895. This month New Horizon Co-operative supported the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie COVID-19 Rapid Relief Fund through our 3% Thursday program. Where they donate 3% of there food sales on the 3rd Thursday of each month to help feed the hungry in our communities. This month $5400 was donated to our local food banks! Including a donation today for $2,245 to the Salvation Army. New Horizon Co-op team members and leaders have taken the time to build the hunger bags to have available for Co-op shoppers to purchase for the Food Bank. Just over 4 pallets of good buy to hunger bags have been donated to the Salvation Army Food Bank since March. #givinghopetoday #thankyougp
