For the past two years, we’ve been very involved volunteering with Line of Hope. Things look different now, no hot meals, rather bagged lunches. Looking to set up the coming months as previous meals have had to turn people away due to low donations.
Wondering what to do with those Evans sour cherries? Sour cherries are baking cherries and make the most amazing pie filling! And so much healthier than canned - no added food colouring etc. Check out this recipe from Atco Blue Flame Kitchen below! Enjoy! https://www.atcoblueflamekitchen.com//evans-cherry-pie.html
IT’S CHERRY TIME! Tomorrow - Monday, we open our U-Pick for our Evans cherries! Hours will remain 9am -9pm, closed on Sunday’s. I recommend if you are wanting to pick, that you come sooner than later, as the season may not last too long! And again, please remember to follow the directions in our About section on our Facebook page. Our google link is stubborn and entirely wrong.
Our friend Leah made saskatoon ice cream with her berries! What have you made with your berries? Drop a photo!
It’s been a different season here for us at The Saskatoon Orchard. Due to the short season and high demand, we sold out of fresh prepicked berries yesterday, and today we are sold out and no longer taking orders for our frozen berries. The U-pick will have its final day Saturday, August 8th. Updates will continue to be made in regards to our Evans cherries and their availability. With sincere thanks and gratitude, we want to say thank you to all our customers, old and new. You are our favourite part of saskatoon season!
