Big turkey = lots of leftovers! Yesterday I canned all the broth from the 2 pots I had going on the stove since Christmas day. We try not to waste too much here. We don't know how to grow small turkeys here. It works out though, because Leanne doesn't know how to cook small meals. 25 lb turkey for 5 people. I know what we will be eating until Easter!

Life here can be pretty busy. As such, things like Christmas cards get away on us every year. 2020 has been a different year and we will not be doing the family visit road show. So this year, Christmas will be a slower more relaxing event. The greater Sharp and Ball family dinners will be missed by us, looking forward to 2021!

So Coldwater really stepped up this year! On Saturday we collected 36 toys, 130 lbs of food and $1449.05 at the Foodland! The money, food and any toys raised will be delivered to the Coldwater food bank. Any left over toys will be spread between Tay, Midland, and Orillia to keep donations local. I just wanted to thank everyone for looking after our neighbours! There is still a gift card box at the Foodland customer service desk, and a dropoff location at the The Christmas Villager. We wrap things up Dec. 18th. I love living in this town!

The Simcoe County Paramedic Toy Drive has a different look to it this year. We hope to get back to parades and other big festive events next year. This year we are going to meet the needs in our communities while keeping with public health recommendations. There will be some small scale events in front of select stores, but our main focus is on gift cards and online donation. We have this full bushel of pesticide free carrots available at the farm for $25. It's a pretty good deal. If the volume scares you, you can buy it as a group and share it with a few families. You can slice, blanch, and freeze them for carrots all winter, or slice them up for carrot sticks as part of a healthy lunch They're good steamed as a side dish or put them in your winter soups or stews. Don't let Farmer Greg feed them to the cows! (Although they would love that!)
