Looking to support a local family this holiday season? @feastinthehammer are arranging a way for you to purchase meals from local small restaurants to donate. P...osted @withregram @feastinthehammer The response to this little initiative has been INCREDIBLE so far. A lot of that has to do with the amazing restaurants that have been on board from the start. - The team at @onedukerestaurant and @thedukes301 have put together some really excellent meals for us to deliver to families in need, thanks to the generosity of the people or Hamilton and beyond! - They're also including a free children's book (written by @zigmisiak himself!) with each delivery. - I couldn't be more grateful for their support and for yours. Thank you to everyone who has donated, liked, shared and sent me lovely messages. My heart is full!! See more

Join Team Hobbitstee - Project Bird Feeder As many of us struggle with social distancing and feeling isolated my mind keeps going to the folks who live in long...term care facilities and group homes. Many of them can’t receive visitors or are very limited. The thought occurred to me that we might bring some pleasure to folks who reside at these facilities by facilitating some bird watching. If we match some volunteers and local business with a longterm care facility within the community we can perhaps provide a well stocked variety of bird feeders which in turn can provide endless viewing pleasure for the residents. To learn more about this project or to sign up please visit the following link. keep in mind that this is a brand new project and it will take a little time to get enough volunteers and businesses to match with longterm care facilities. http://www.hobbitstee.com/birdfeeder.php

Hello Friends of Grenfell!! Today we recieved 25 pairs of insulated coveralls, generously sold to us at a hugely reduced price by Cantex Distribution. At this t...ime we could only afford to do 25 pairs - however we are hoping that folks will donate as there are a few hundred pairs of these available at their reduced price for our homeless friends. The housing crisis will not be fixed by winter, no matter what Government officials decide and so we went on a search to do what we could to keep folks alive this winter. These coveralls have many bonuses - they are quilted and insulated, water resistant (you can sit in a puddle, won't even feel it!), they have multiple pockets, protect from the wind and protect your whole body from frostbite even at the most extreme temperatures. In order to keep putting more of these into the hands of folks who need them we need more. We had to turn people away to prioritize those who are ill, suffer from arthritis, the elderly and pregnant women - which is always very hard to do, we do not like turning folks away. If you are able to sponsor someone to get a set of coveralls, you can donate via our website or email transfer to [email protected]. a donation of any size helps, however $40 gets a whole pair. We want to extend our thanks to the individuals and small business that assisted us in purchasing the 25 we have thus far - we thank you, your community thanks you. Today was a good day for outreach. Today we were able to hand a small handful of folks something that is tangible, that feels like it actually helps those who are living rough this year. The housing crisis is very real, people will very much freeze to death outside this winter, this is a way to give folks at least a shot at survival. Due to COVID this year will be even more difficult as there will be shut down of services, warming centers and the need for a mask to even come indoors. We needed to take some action and this helps us sleep a little better at night. Thank you to everyone who helped us get here.
