If we were starting over and looking for a great art school in the coolest town we would apply to @yukonsova, and we’re not just saying that because they have the best merch and sent these lovely care packages to us and our pal @lilyjvanderhiede - but they do and they did!! Thank you @yukonsova !!! We love it all
This is a pic of Big Lake partially frozen yesterday. This is also a bit of a PSA because we had a scary incident with our dog Olive (second pic) that started at the lake yesterday - it seems that while there she must have found and eaten a discarded roach, as by the time we got home she was having full body tremors and something seemed very wrong. I called our vet and also an emergency vet line and both felt she had marijuana poisoning - I looked up the symptoms in dogs and ...she had every one of them, except, very thankfully, she didn’t fall into a coma and die. We induced vomiting and followed the vets’ suggestions to keep her warm and comfortable and hydrated, and she is doing so much better now. But last night was scary - the idea of Olive tripping balls might sound adorable and funny but it really wasn’t. (Okay she is always cute - second pic - but really she was so sick and scared, it was just really sad.) All this is to say, though we can’t be 100 % sure what happened, all signs point to this request: please keep an eye on your doggos, and also please keep an eye on where you discard of your roaches, friends! We are so thrilled that local artist Anissa Reed has made this wonderful piece to show in our Window Gallery!! We have long admired @anissareed’s many bumper stickers, t-shirts, and hoodies that can be seen all around town, as well as her deep commitment to activism for wild salmon - so please stop by to see this sweet and whimsical project in person sometime over these coming weeks! #windowgallery #downtownsointula
For the next film screening and discussion we’re helping organize, we’ll watch the first two episodes of 8th Fire - we will watch and discuss the 3rd and 4th episodes next month. You can find them all on YouTube, all are very worthwhile!
Recent mail from friends/past artists in residence @stevenlambke and @magiclanterns : Steve’s new music is called dub.tape and features some beautiful and surprisingly melodious grooves from the recorder (we’re hoping our 6 yr old takes note that recorders can make non-screeching sounds); and Shary sent us a drawing to burn as her completion of a prompt from @art_prompt_monthly, where you can learn more about why we set a beautiful drawing from a friend we love on fire
There are a couple very nice T&T (@beachcombover and @tonytonyromano) prints included in a 2D art flash sale @trappprojects - also lots of other great works! Proceeds go to the food bank, show starts tomorrow, preview today trappprojects.com
On Big Lake today.
Since moving here we've been very grateful for all the incredible dance performances Mary-Louise Albert has brought to this community - and now we're so happy we can watch this new performance online! https://thedancecentre.ca//mary-louise-albert-/2020-12-03/
We’re helping organize another film discussion - this time we’re going to discuss @ava’s brilliant 13TH on the 13th!

I (Kerri) made some things! More things over at @undecimals !Also Tyler is slowly starting to post some of his old tunes on Bandcamp under Tyler Brett, and he might even post some newer music one of these days! Ok, that’s it for this unsolicited Art Shed co-bosses’ update, hope you’re all doing well and staying safe out there Posted @withregram @undecimals Kerri Reid / Undecimals / November 2020 / Finger puppets @kerrimaureen . . Anhi Sy Annie with a bag of bott...les and cans, for Alex Tedlie-Stursberg / David Hammons with snowball, for Lucien Durey / Chantal Akerman with a film camera, for Fabiola Carranza / Eva Hesse with a small sculpture, for Lauren Lavery / Franz West with sculpture, for Kelly Lycan / Guy Debord with cigar, for Brennan Kelly / Sui Sin Far with a book, for Karen Tam / Michelle Furbacher with a cat and bunny, for Del Hillier / Yoko Ono, for Dave Dyment . . From the artist: A bit about this finger puppet project: I became an aunt for the first time when my niece was born in 2006. The following year I was looking for a gift for her and found a set of The Great Revolutionaries Finger Puppets, which included Mahatma Gandhi, Che Guevara, Leon Trotsky and Nelson Mandela. All great revolutionaries, but I thought there should have been some female revolutionaries in there, so I handmade a Rosa Parks, Emma Goldman, Rosa Luxemburg, and Mother Jones, and tucked them in the box alongside the revolutionaries in the original set. Obviously that was still a very inexhaustive list, but I remember feeling at the time like the finger puppets were the best things I had ever made - and I still kind of feel like that, even though I always struggle to get their faces right. Since those early finger puppet days I’ve made many more as gifts where I tried to make a finger puppet of someone admired by the person I was making the puppet for, which has led to finger puppets ranging from Malala Yousafzai to Martha Stewart, Bjork, and Eddie Van Halen (RIP). So all this is to say: I hope you enjoy your finger puppet.
