Back to School and Masks: How do you keep clean masks clean? Where do you put soiled masks? Can I hand wash masks? How?... Where do you dry masks? How will my child separate masks clean from dirty? After washing and thoroughly drying, I STORE masks in a ziploc bag near my entrance to my house (during the summer it has been in my 'park' bag that has sunscrean and bandaids, etc) where it is easy to grab and go. For back to school, I may separate into different bags for each child individually in their school bag. Be sure to wipe bag out regularly, as your hand is not always clean when reaching into it (it should be, but let's be truthful, we arent perfect, so be diligent and wipe it out every so often). SOILED masks have been put on the doorknob of my laundry room, but recently I have adapted to use the laundry bag with an added loop for hanging here. Now I dont have to look for a laundry bag, just zip it closed. SOILED AT SCHOOL/WORK a labelled ziploc or cloth bag for soiled masks would work well (I am all for reusing things, so I would likely choose a cloth or waterproof fabric bag that can be washed and reused) making one from an old t-shirt is simple and effective. Or reuse and old gift bag. (I am working on a case for masks removed for lunch and recess, stay tuned...) HAND WASH can be done using plain bar soap or a hand washing bar soap found with other laundry supplies. Liquid (ie. woolite or tide) can be used according to manufacturer's directions. One major thing: MASKS SHOULD BE WASHED IN HOT WATER, BY HAND OR MACHINE! Hang to dry in well ventilated, clean area (for example: a damp, frequently used bathroom is not a good choice). Tumble dry in dryer (I keep it in the dryer bag). But wait! My mask is wrinkley!! What do I do? That depends on the fabric of the mask. The Spiral Artisan masks are cotton and can be ironed, but don't need to be ironed. I have found as the mask is worn the wrinkles from the dryer come out (within a few breaths, actually). Today as I sit in the sunshine, my Summer theme inspirations are flowing...planning this week's Pre-pack cookie designs... Swimming, gardening, swinging in a hammock... What kind of summer fun have you been up to?

Did some farmstand touring in Southern Ontario yesterday. Lots of stands along highway 7, in case you are looking for an amazing weekend day trip. Most are open all weekend, some respect day of rest on Sunday. Go with a happy heart and you will find great pit fruits (juicy peaches, plums, apricots), garlic, potatoes, cukes, tomatoes, peppers, and sweet corn. Some have eggs too. Watch for signs and be prepared to go where you least expect! Enjoy the fresh air! Now I am ready f...or a day of Dill-Pickling! Cukes, Dill and Garlic, Ontario Grown! Can't get fresher than that. To give credit: I visited Rockwood sweet corn stand - their corn is consistently super sweet! Cute little garlic stands along highway 7 and Braemar Hills in Embro grows amazing Organic garlic, tomatoes and other seasonal vegetables (I think they have a Facebook page, I will try to link later if I can). This garlic is from Dorchester's UnCorked Greenhouse.
