This turned out so much better, and more even than I anticipated! Swipe for the before, as well as the in between where I had to use colour remover. . She had been doing her hair at home, bleaching her own roots and then applying fashion colours. Considering she was doing it herself, her hair was in decent condition! (Don’t take that as it’s okay to do it yourself...she’s lucky) I had to strip her colour in order to see what was going on underneath. She wanted a lower m...aintenance look so I matched her base similar to her natural colour and colour melted with the two tones of pink so it will be amazing to grow out. I am loving these dark hair colours with balayage! It really does bring everything to life. . I cooled down her brown with a green/blue based colour, and then strategically placed ribbons of caramel so that each curl in her hair pops. I then neutralized the orange that her hair lifted to with a blue/beige based toner. . She was sure to book a toner in 6 weeks, as I told her about how toners fade relatively quickly and the warmth will shine back through with time. Wow. It’s finally time! . It’s been a way longer and harder road then anticipated, but Here I am. Feeling okay! . I got the go ahead from my surgeon to start back to work, but slower than most of us would like! I’ll be starting with Tuesday’s and Thursday’s during the day. I totally understand that this might not work for everyone, no hard feelings. ... . I’ve had lots of time to watch online courses in new techniques and am feeling excited to be back! I’m also so thankful to my crystal family that’s been keeping me busy at my page @crystalline.elements during one of the most testing times of my life so far. I’m sending out this mass text message in hopes to make my life a little bit easier with how quickly my surgery date came up. (Though it sure as shit hasn’t been quick trying to get this all figured out initially). My first surgery date is Tuesday, August 4th at the civic hospital in Ottawa. I’ll be in the hospital for two days at least after surgery, and I am still waiting to find out how long I will have to stay in Ottawa before I can return home. The recovery I have been told will be a rough 4-8 weeks, and of course I’m banking on sooner than later. That being said, I will not be pre booking any appointments with the assumption of when I’ll be coming back, in case that changes. When I am able to start back to work I will send out another mass text, as well as post online so I can reach as many people as possible. If you have an appointment booked with me for anytime in the next two months, please assume it to be cancelled. I will however be attempting to finish all the appointments I have this week, if the pain doesn’t increase anymore than the level it’s already at. I also want all of you to know how much I appreciate you. I feel so privileged that you chose me as your hairstylist, when there are so many other talented people out there. I appreciate you always being so understanding through these ups and downs, as well as during Covid. It means so much more to me than I could ever put into words. This lovely lady sat under the dryer before she left so I could see her colour when it was dry. The blonde turned out beautiful, and I used her natural base as the lowlight to create dimension. I keep her blonde bright by using a pink based toner vs an ash or blue base which sometimes gives the illusion of a darker shade. To our valued clients We do not have an opening date at this time. In regards to the eventual reopening of our salon we would like to share some of the changes required as we continue to physical distance during the COVID-19 pandemic.... We will not be taking walk in appointments. All appointments must be scheduled with the inclusion of a cell phone number. Self screening will be required before entering the salon. If you have even the slightest sign of illness please reschedule your appointment. All clients will be required to wear a mask. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you at the cost of one dollar. We are limited to one client per stylist in the salon. Unfortunately there will be no visiting or lounging at this time. Clients will be required to stay in your vehicle until we have properly sanitized our stations and are ready to service you safely. Please shampoo your own hair before arriving if it all possible. We are still unsure if we will be blow drying. Due to the required spacing of clients, sanitization and possible changes in our work schedules, you may not get an appointment as quickly as usual. The staff would appreciate patience as we will be working hard to get the shop working smoothly and to be as safe as possible for both ourselves and you our valued clients.

I am writing this post today to address rumours that have been flying around about dates that salons will be reopening. Our salon has been in contact with the city of Brantford and there has been no date issued. We have been told that any salons that open their doors prior to the government approved date will be fined. We are still waiting for confirmed regulations fro...m the government on what new practises we will need to implement to keep you our valued clients and the staff here at the salon safe. Hey guys! Not sure if youve noticed, but I havent been posting as many hair photos lately. Im still here, doing my thing! Im just taking some time to figure out what my priorities are, and what parts of my business werent feeling authentic to what I am passionate about. Posting my work is definately an important part of my business, as its my portfolio to have on display. However, I realized I had been posting for the wrong reasons. Ive been doing a lot of things for t...he wrong reasons actually. Once I realized I was measuring my success by having people validate my work with likes and compliments, and being as busy as possible, I feel like slapping a hair photo out there and waiting for people to compliment me (while I appreciate this ) still doesnt make me feel successful. So here I am, booking myself less tight, allowing for some time to remember why I started doing hair in the first place, and how to get back to my creativity and joy. When you dont leave yourself enough time and or energy for anything but standing behind the chair, you can very easily become controlled by the pleasing of everyone else but yourself. Hey guy, Im not sure how much of my captions are actually read but Im going to ramble anyways. I just want to say thank you to all the clients I had to cancel last week due to some extreme pain that am dealing with and trying to get sorted out. I am so lucky to have a clientele that is understanding and loyal. I cant tell you enough how much it means to me that you guys are all so patient when things get hard. I also want to say thanks to everyone else who is patient when... messages arent responded to ask quickly as youd like. Running your own business is a constant learning curve, and you end up doing several jobs in one, and we all know my weakness is the receptionist part of my job. Nothing beats the shine of a beautiful dark brunette. Megan doesnt like to see res undertones in her colour, similarly how blondes dont like to see yellow. Both situations require maintenance to keep these unwanted tones away, as no matter what forumlas and colours you use, these underlying pigments show up with time. She comes in once every 5-8 weeks, and we refresh her colour to cancel out the red. My blondes also know that yellow will always show up over time, so the mai...ntenance is very similar if you want a specific tone. When the red, golds and yellows start to show up, dont blame your stylist. It comes down to science , and its unavoidable. When we recommend re booking with a specific amount of time in between, as well as take home products, its for You as the client to benefit, not us! One of my favourite things to do is take a full head of blonde and give it some life with freehand shadowing and depth. This client has a high percentage of that natural sparkly stuff, so I wanted to play it up by using cool based steel tones. Swipe for the before from this new client. She started out very blonde with some grown out highlights, and has never gone to the dark side. Her natural hair that had grown in was relatively dark, especially in contrast to the grown out blonde. With golden undertones in her skin, her dark brown eyes and eyebrows, I was very excited to tell her she could for sure rock a nice deep rich brown. This gives her less maintenance, and really accentuated her features in a way most people wouldnt expect. I see this Lovely lady twice a year usually. You can still very easily go quite globally blonde , with keeping it low maintenance over time. The key to this is keeping lots of depth throughout the interior of the hair, and making sure you dont go to heavy handed towards the top and part line.
