Medicine Hat Skateboard Association is back with another Skate Skool at the new indoor skatepark coming next month!

What is your favourite local spot to skate? Mine is Riverside Memorial Park. All that’s really there is a 3 stair stage, a 6 stair into a fountain and a manny pad. But it’s all about the atmosphere. The sound of your wheels clicking across the red clay brick, the old Canadian memorabilia, the mature trees, all on the river front. I’ve got a first consultation with an ankle surgeon September 19th, and hopefully surgery not long after that. I can’t really skate still, but it sure is nice to get out and enjoy our historic picturesque downtown.

A concept for the goal of the new indoor skatepark space! It will start simple with a couple ramps and flat bars, but with some community support were hoping it will be at this point in early 2020.

Nic & Shaun had us on MY96 to talk about the new skate spot coming to Crescent Heights. Medicine Hat Skateboard Association ‘s Beat the Heat contest was an incredible experience as always! . Huge thanks to @kyle.yp and @nevada.yp for allowing us to see a piece of their culture and helping us celebrate Canada. Congrats to all the skaters who came out and absolutely ripped. A few months ago The Summit facility came to a somewhat abrupt end. Friends and family stepped up and made sure we had lots of help getting things dismantled and relocated. As of now everything resides primarily in a warehouse with some things living in family garages. We dont know yet what the future holds, but we do know we want our community to be involved. Were still here! And were always open to your ideas and support. Lets try to keep this culture alive and thriving!

LMT Landscaping got at the Saamis Rotary spot right away this season to tackle the sod work. Give it a few days to take and itll be ready to shred! Its gonna be a good summer. [With multiple torn ankle ligaments and a torn capsule I havent skated since September. This tiny shuv is all I could muster.]

Its been a LOONNGG time since weve done a Spot Stop, so Haiden Meier took matters into his own hands last night and put this little number together. One skater, one day, one obstacle. Today someone rented The Summit who grew up skateboarding but hadnt skated in years! For his birthday they spent the day enjoying The Summit and were generous enough to open it up to the skateboard community. What a great way to spend your birthday. Here is @chase_dark @reis.burrows and @konnor_wiebe from Medicine Hat Skateboard Association shredding the park.

Reis is good because Reis skates.. a lot. Were closed this week for the holidays, but! The Medicine Hat Skateboard Association has some private bookings happening, so contact them for details. Or, book your very own private session like @reis.burrows does, then perhaps youll be as good as Reis. Maybe, just maybe. Merry Christmas!!!

Integrated Skate Spots. Lets all be thankful for this wave of great weather.

Exciting things are happening in the skateboard world here in Medicine Hat! The first (of many to come) integrated skate spot is officially underway and is on course to be complete within a week!! Next spring and yearly afterwards additional skate spots will be added to neighbourhoods all over our city. Thank you Medicine Hat Skateboard Association and City of Medicine Hat for helping The Summits vision for these spots come to life. Stay tuned for official opening of this skate spot coming soon!!

We always feel like we have a pretty beautiful space, but were slightly biased. Brandie Michelle Peters on the other hand is not, and she really talked up our space! Thanks Brandie, were excited to have you also.

Happy Thanksgiving folks! Here is a lofty Ollie as a gift to you this holiday weekend. The skatepark will be closed Thanksgiving Monday, back open Wednesday for regular hours.

After a much needed (but far too short) summer break, we are back in action! This Monday, October 1st, is the first day of Summit skatepark fall hours. Mondays | 4-6pm Wednesdays | 6-8pm Fridays | 3-5pm... As always we will have memberships, punch cards, and private bookings available. Winter is lame! But it doesnt have to be all bad.. maybe??
