Remember, you are always in the driver's seat
Though this holiday season -and the way we celebrate it - will look a little different this year, we can still find safe and fun ways to let the spirit and magic of Christmas fill our homes and hearts! Having dinner via Zoom with friends and family might be something we've already adapted to, so why not try doing a game night via Zoom? A movie marathon is also a fun way to get lost in feel-good stories, adventures and faraway lands! We may have to adjust the way we celebrate the holidays this year, but with that, we might also end up finding new holiday traditions to add on for years to come! For a few other safe and unique ideas, check out the article below. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
With so many home offices that are made up of the couch, the bed with a few extra cushions or the kitchen table, our work stations may not exactly be ergonomically correct and therefore could be doing a number on our posture and compressing our spine. This can lead to back pain, neck pain, tight muscles and even the occasional headache. If you're at your desk all day, try to get up at least once every hour to stretch out. This will not only help prevent possible aches and pains but it will also help alleviate existing tension that has built up over time from too much sitting. Check out the article below for 17 stretches and exercises that'll help you get started!
Tis' the season to be kind, to be generous and to be grateful for all the wonderful gifts around us!
Ok, so we know how to fuel up properly before a workout (last week's post) - so what about post-workout nutrition? You might not feel like eating right after a killer workout, but it's important to make sure you get a little something in your system shortly after to help the recovery process. Your body needs to repair damaged muscle tissue and replenish its glycogen stores, therefore getting in proper protein and carbohydrates within 30-45 minutes after your workout can help optimize your recovery and build those muscles you worked so hard for. Read on to check out the recommended foods you can enjoy post-workout, either as a snack or a meal!
