Huge and heartfelt thanks to the lovely souls who left these gifts for us. They came at the perfect time. Our staff care so much for the community, and having community support in return is a huge morale booster. Thank you for this kindness!
Of all reported crime in Canada, 25% is related to family violence. However, experts estimate that only 20% of family violence is reported. We sure do see it in Urgent Care. Here is a Manitoba resource if you need one. http://ow.ly/1Jbj50CozEv #familyviolenceprevention
Its Digital Health week, and we are so thankful for the Digital Health team at Sharedhealthmb. During COVID, technology connects us virtually with our patients and each other. Here is our management team at morning safety huddles, prepping for the day ahead. #ThinkDigitalHealth
We have a problem: bacteria is gradually changing so it no longer responds to the same medicines, making common infections harder to treat. Over time this will increase severe illness and death. Here are the 3 ways to help the situation. #AntimicrobialAwarenessWeek
A little Friday afternoon treat for you - here is an early morning shot of the hospital taken by our favourite photographer (and Security Supervisor) Av Singh. Love the yellows and pinks! Happy weekend friends. #workplacephotography
We are SO excited to share our newest weapons against COVID-19. The ultraviolet rays produced by these machines are proven to kill the virus. Our Housekeeping staff use them to clean patient spaces, and our Medical Device Reprocessing team use them to sterilize PPE. #awesome
This is The Vic's wonderful Diabetes Education team, now located on site at the Vic. During COVID they meet with patients virtually, and have implemented new Virtual Classes through Microsoft Teams. Anyone needing Diabetes services can call the Clinic at 204-477-3305 for info. #greatstaff
We are interrupting our usual content just to send you all a virtual group hug. You aren't alone in this pandemic battle. We are with you all the way, and we are going to get through it. #stayhomestaysafe
Every year The Vic is proud to host the launch of Winnipeg's "Be A Santa To A Senior" program. Huge shout out to the organizers, Home Instead Senior Care who have figured out how to go virtual this year. Head over to https://www.beasantatoasenior.com/ to get started! #BASTAS
Dementia is a very challenging disease, and one we see regularly at The Vic. It impacts not just the patient, but everyone who cares about them. Here is a short overview of the disease, and how we can reduce our risk. http://ow.ly/WzvP50BMJZm La démence est une maladie très difficile, et une que nous rencontrons régulièrement à l’Hôpital général Victoria. Cela a un impact non seulement sur le patient, mais sur tous ceux qui se soucient d'eux. Voici un bref aperçu de la maladie et comment nous pouvons réduire notre risque. http://ow.ly/FpR650BMJZl
Bravo to our Pre-Anesthesia and Bariatric Surgery teams who've gone virtual during COVID-19. Patients meet with their anesthesiologist, nurse, psychologist, dietitian or kinesiologist using their computer or smart device. Other hospitals are following your lead; you've made us very proud! #leaders #innovators
Thanksgiving wishes to you and yours from The Vic!
The Vic provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) from Manitoba Blue Cross. This voluntary, confidential service helps staff and their dependents manage stressors such as relationship and family issues, addictions, bereavement, anxiety and depression. Perhaps you have an EAP program where you work? if not consider AbilitiCBT , the virtual counselling program available to all residents of Manitoba age 16 or older experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety due to t...he pandemic: https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/bewell/virtualtherapy.html Vic employees can enquire about the services or make an appointment by calling Manitoba Blue Cross Employee Assistance Centre directly at 204.786.8880 or toll free at 1.800.590.5553. Day, evening and weekend appointments are available, and we've received many positive reviews from staff who have used the service.. #justaskforhelp #itsoktonotbeok
We are heading into Thanksgiving weekend, traditionally a wonderful time to visit with extended family and friends. Because we are battling against the second wave of COVID-19, Thanksgiving may need to look a little different. Let's keep safe Manitoba!
What do you know about mental illness? Thanks to the researchers at the University of Manitoba, Manitoba Centre for Health Policy and the Canadian Mental Health Association Manitoba and Winnipeg for their great work in this area. Looking for more info? http://ow.ly/leLX50BGa3s
These lovely folks (all 6 feet apart) are from our Human Resources Department. They help us hire the best staff, keep staff paid, provide excellent advice, and occasionally facilitate conflict resolution. They help maintain our amazing workplace culture, and they are just a whole lot of fun! We are so thankful for them! Looking to join our team? No doubt about it, autumn is here! Besides raking leaves, tell us what COVID-friendly activities you are looking forward to over the next few weeks! (Thanks to our Security Supervisor Avneet Singh for another phenomenal shot of the hospital!) #workplacephotography #autumnvibes #autumnleaves
Q: The WRHA website shows the Wait Time in Urgent Care is 1.75 hours, but I’ve waited 2 hours already. Why? A: The published wait time is the best estimate of how long it will take until you are seen by a doctor, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner. The times are updated every 20 minutes, but situations can change quickly. Please understand that the sickest patients are always seen first, and it is not a first-come-first serve process. While the wait times are a useful forecast, your wait time may be shorter or longer than the posted time. We appreciate your patience.
Our incredible housekeeping crew works tirelessly to keep the Vic clean 24/7. Highly skilled in infection prevention & control, they are one of our best defenses against COVID-19. From patient rooms to common areas, they strive for perfection to keep us safe when we need them most. We love this strong, hard-working, caring team! #workfamily
