yaD sdrawkcaB - Backwards Day, Because 2020 wasn’t backwards enough! Yesterday we wore our clothes backwards, every activity we tried we tried it backwards too! We played pin the nose on the snowman (winner was the furthest away), we wrote our names backwards, and we completed an obstacle course (backwards of course )! It was a challenge at times, but a fun challenge nonetheless!
We celebrated ringing in the New Year this morning. We made fire work art,had a glow dance party, popped party poppers, wore special hats, tooted our own horns, we had a special pizza lunch and counted down at noon! And to finish off our last day of the year we are relaxing with a movie! Wishing you a happy and healthy 2021! Happy New Year from G.C.C.C!
Happy Tuesday everyone! The theme of the day was Beach Day. Since we can’t go to the beach we would bring some beach themed things inside! We started our day off with making sand castles with moon sand. The children had a blast using that stuff! The next thing we moved into was making our own squid friend, they had fun making their own squid that they will get to take home. They also enjoyed some dancing today which they are always enjoying and wanting to do! We finished our morning off by searching for our sea friends, the starfish, the shark, the octopus and the fish stay tuned for more themes of the week!
We still have cookie kits available! Our deadline for orders is fast approaching, be sure to get you orders in! **please remember to add $1 to etransfers**
One of the real joys of the Holiday Season is the opportunity to say thank you and to wish you the very best for the new year! Thank you to the children and families who show up every day; thank you to the staff for all their hard work; thank you to the board members for all their extra time and effort; and thank you to the community for all the support! Nothing goes unnoticed and we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without all of you!! The Centre will be closed tomorrow, u...ntil Monday. We wish you all a very happy, healthy, and safe Christmas! -The Children and Staff at G.C.C.C.

The Grenfell Child Care Centre would like to thank the TD Bank for their very generous donation of $1000, as well as $500 from the Canada Golden Fortune Non-Profit Grant, sponsored by the Town of Grenfell. We are beyond grateful for these donations - they will be put towards the installation of a new washer and dryer at the centre - much needed to keep our little people's items clean and sanitary!
With sensory play being limited, we are very thankful to the Grenfell Coop Grocery for collecting all the clay and, for all the customers who have donated their clay! The children are sure having fun, imagining and creating!
We haven’t posted in a while but, we are still here! The children and staff at the centre have been busy in preparation for fall!
We would like to bid farewell to our fearless leader for the past 2 years, as well as the record holder for longest serving staff member Alyia you will be so missed by the children as well as families of the Centre. Best wishes with all your future endeavors! All are welcome to stop by the Centre Friday morning to say goodbye and have a piece of cake for Alyia’s last day!
Centre Director Changes!
A nice little neighborhood walk, finished by watching the fruit truck set up and getting a tour of all the goodies. The kids chose apples and pears for their snack
A few of the activities from our Father’s Day week. Along with their cards and gifts the children answered questionnaires about their Dad’s. Here is just a few of the funny answers we received: How old is your dad? I don’t know but he’s like really old!... What is your favourite thing to do with dad? Go see grandma! What is Dad really good at? Picking up my toys!
Rainy days can’t stop these kiddos from enjoying our outside area!
So much Dino excitement ! Do you think the dinosaurs came alive last night and did this? The kids sure do!
The Centre will be officially reopening June 1st! We would like to thank the daycare families and community members for your continued patience throughout this challenging time!
We are hoping to reopen the centre as soon as possible and to do so we need to know who will be requiring child care. If you will need child care for June 2020 please email us no later than May 22 and include the estimated hours you will need care. We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and look forward to providing care for our families soon. We will notify everyone as soon as we have a date of reopening decided. Email: [email protected]
Hello All, We have come to the unfortunate decision to remain closed for May 2020. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause but cannot financially sustain the centre on the extremely low attendance rates. We will reevaluate opening for June 2020 closer to the time. Thank you for your understanding,... G.C.C.C Director & Board of Directors
A friendly reminder to email us if you have not yet. We will let everyone know when a decision has been made regarding reopening for May 2020.
There are so many amazing learning opportunities in nature, you don’t have to feel stuck inside trying to come up with the next craft, activity etc. Nature is waiting to be explored by all those little fingers and toes. Get outside and enjoy the fresh air with members of your household! Here are just a few of the many links on Pinterest of outdoor activities as well as the benefits of Mud Play, it’s the perfect time of year to get out there and get muddy! We miss you all!!... It was a bitter sweet goodbye today, as we had our last very quiet day at the centre. This quote couldn’t be more true as to how our team is feeling! We will miss the sound of all our littles so much and are counting down the days until we can all return. Thank you to all of our families for building positive and cherished relationships with us, we can’t wait to get back to our daily greetings and conversations. Stay healthy, happy and safe everyone and don’t be afraid to keep us girls updated on your little munchkins! -Alyia, Kaija, Kaylee and Hailey
Staff will be at the centre from 8am-4pm tomorrow, so if you have any items that you’d like to pick up before we close please stop by! There are lots of water bottles, snow pants, bedding etc. left by our families.
Announcement from the GCCC Board of Directors:
Parents with children in daycares should prepare for more restrictions. As previously stated we will continue to keep everyone updated with any new information from the Ministry of Education- Early Years Branch.
Just a few of the crafts leading up to St.Patricks day. Splatter art was a fun, new and extremely messy experience that everyone loved. We had a surprise visit from our own little leprechaun today! Thanks Donna for making our day!
In light of the recent press conference with Scott Moe, please be aware that as we are a Licensed Child Care Centre not located in a school we are required to remain open to maintain funding. This is being evaluated further and similar closures may be put into place at a later date. We want to reiterate to our families that the health of the children and staff is of the utmost importance and we will be doing everything in our power to remain a healthy, safe and fun centre during this time.
Such a fun opportunity for the families in our community, be sure to check it out!
Annual Child Care Service Fee Receipts have been emailed out to all of our families, paper copies are available at the centre by request. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call!
