Enjoyed this article about foam rolling post workout (why this maybe isn't the best way to recover). Personally, I'm a pre-workout foam roller. Just wanted to share! https://furthermore.equinox.com//08/5-foam-rolling-mistakes

If you like hanging out with me (/hearing my awful jokes) and you like working out you have over a dozen chances to do those two things this week! 1 out of 2 is still a good enough reason to come out for a sweat (just don't tell me which of the 2 got you there). Few extra classes on my schedule this week including Wednesday night's Wildcard Boxing Bootcamp. All classes at Sunshine Coast Lift Strength & Conditioning Centre. Thanks GM Fitness for having me sub your classes today! Lunchtime 12:30 Kettlebell Express and the 1:15pm Wildcard if you need that mid-day sweat

"Vinyasa" in a broad sense means to flow through movements in coordination with breath, or the union of breath and movement. I've started working on some flows for class warm-ups, mobility and for body weight training and all though I'm not sequencing through yoga only specific poses, I like to think of them as my own Vinyasas... that I can do in my tiny apartment. . This one is inspired by @steph.rose.phase6, I love her primal flows and mobility! Challenge yourself to slow ...things down and breath through every movement. This one is good for warming up your glutes and opening up the hip flexors: Deep Squat Cossack Crescent lunge Hip Flexor Stretch Reverse and repeat . . #movewelllivewell See more

This is GREAT quick read. Some of it news to me, but makes total sense. I recently removed a few of these movements from my work outs simply because they didn't feel good. Others I have learned through my research and training that they simply are not effective - like the crunch. If you take my classes Sunshine Coast Lift Strength & Conditioning Centre you know I'm always working our core in rotation, in different planes of movement, with off-set loads, and compound move...ments. Sit-ups and crunches really only target your rectus abdominis (those 6 pack muscles) that don't actually assist you with much - there's SO much more to your core than those muscles, and with sit-ups alone you'll never have a truly strong core (or a 6 pack because you're most likely not training efficiently enough, and your diet plays a big role in that aesthetic goal). Hope this helps any of you gym-goers who aren't taking classes or training with a certified professional! Thanks MyFitnessPal https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/7-exercises-never/

My website needs some work still, and I'm months behind on blog posts (more coming soon), but one thing you can ALWAYS count on is my events calendar being updated! This fall has tons to offer whether you're a professional looking to learn more and continue developing your training, or you're a health enthusiast (or newbie) looking for some fun events to go meet some like minded (awesome, healthy) people! https://www.thevitalityclub.ca/events-calendar
