Over the last few years, WELL KNOWN has had the honour of working with Katy and Dave McGregor of Northern Disposal & Sanitation on their overall marketing and advertising campaigns. Part of this work includes developing and marketing their fundraising efforts, which are in support of the local Huntsville hospital. Their generosity reflects their values and we are proud to play a role in increasing awareness of these campaigns. There are two parts to the initiative; the fir...st is their "Pink for Patients" campaign. When you rent a pink portable toilet, a percentage of the proceeds are donated to the cancer diagnostic and care programs at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. Many see this campaign as a way to honour, or remember, loved ones affected by cancer when hosting an outdoor celebratory event or family function. Katy and Dave also have a "Pumping for Patients" campaign. When you book your septic pumping services with Northern Disposal & Sanitation, a percentage of these proceeds are also donated to the cancer diagnostic and care programs at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. Emails are a great way to connect (and *stay* connected) with your current (and *potential*) customers! Everybody has an active email address but not everyone has a social media account. This makes email a SUPER conduit for directly sharing news about your products or promos, for communicating useful information, or for simply telling a story to any and all of your targets regardless of where they spend their time online. As long as you're keeping the "c...onversation" with your clients and prospects alive, you're staying at the top of their minds! But how do you gather emails from the customers you have, AND the ones you want to get? There are many ways to get started! Here are THREE 3 of them: Website by using digital tools like pop-ups, or a clickable button sporting a firm call-to-action , you can make it easy for visitors to sign up for regular updates via email; but it's important give them a reason to divulge their data! Try offering them an incentive to stay "in the loop" like an ongoing newsletter that promises to send a simple alert about upcoming sale campaigns, or provide them with interesting content on a regular basis. Signup Sheet if you can optimize on walk-in traffic at your brick and mortar store, go for it! Nothing beats a good, old fashioned guest list (where visitors leave their email addresses beside their names, of course). Social Media if you have an audience on Instagram or Facebook for example, why not tap into that resource? Make it fun, and again, provide an incentive; for example, hold a GIVEAWAY to drive those email signups there's lots of room to get creative and have some fun! People over 55 have the most money and buy the most products. Yet, the advertising industry is infatuated with the 18 to 34-year-old target market. Terry O’Reilly, marketing guru, author and host of the award-winning CBC Radio One radio show, Under the Influence. It’s time to dispel the myths and scrap the stereotypes! According to the latest Stats Canada numbers, today’s seniors are! Tech savvy. Canadian seniors are the fastest-growing segment of internet users.... In the workforce. In 2015, one in five Canadians aged 65 and older, or nearly 1.1 million seniors, reported working during the year. This is the highest proportion recorded since the 1981 Census. Of the seniors who worked in 2015, about 30.0% did so a full year, full time. Happy. The majority of Canadians over the age of 65 reports an overall higher life satisfaction than younger adults. So why does advertising so often get it wrong? Why are advertising images of people over 65 typically rife with stereotypes about their independence, contributions, energy, demeanour, etc.? Part of the problem may be that older adults aren’t often at the creative table. Advertising is dominated by young teams. There are campaigns like the immensely successful, if slightly controversial, 'Sexy Santa' from Yorkdale style. And in recent years, there has been a trend towards featuring older women in beauty campaigns with Cover girl, Loreal Paris, and others expanding the breadth of ages they choose to represent in their ads.
