"A forecasted one kilogram of flower yield per plant has blossomed into double that in some of the company’s eight strains that, at the end of September, had been half-harvested. And a hot, arid summer made for optimal conditions in a region with fertile soil ideally suited for nurturing bud honed locally by more than two decades of often outlaw genetic engineering, said Dumaresq."
Good news? Maybe. History has taught me not to hold my breath. "The British Columbia government announced today that they will allow small-scale producers, including nurseries, the option of delivering cannabis directly to licensed retailers, as well as farm-gate sales, in the coming years."
"Canada has long been an exporter of cannabis to its southern neighbour, with BC bud being a of key interest to the US DEA. It’s unknown if there is an increase in shipments south of the border or simply more seizures with traffic levels being much lower due to the border being close to all but essential business and travelers."
Two Canadian researchers think that a special strain of cannabis might potentially be a valuable tool in the fight against COVID-19. The researchers, Olga and Igor Kovalchuck have reportedly been developing and testing a novel cannabis strain for years, except with the goal of creating a strain that helps to combat cancer and inflammation. When the pandemic hit, the duo started to focus their efforts on how the strain might be used to help fight COVID-19. The duo’s work was published in an April issue of the online medical journal Preprints.
"Researchers from Baylor College of Medicine worked in collaboration with the CBD brand Medterra on the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. The 4 week study included 20 large dogs diagnosed with osteoarthritis who were randomly assigned to receive either a placebo or one of three different CBD options. The dogs were evaluated before and after the regimen by both veterinarians and their owners on factors related to their mobility and pain. Details about the amount of CBD each dog was taking was kept from the owners and veterinarians so that it wouldn’t influence their evaluations."
