The Whostorian 15.01.2021

Hands up who thinks this is really gonna suck. To paraphrase Canadian kids' TV icon The Friendly Giant, my hand is up. Waaaay up. I'll review this on a future 'Winterly' episode (sigh...because I 'must').

The Whostorian 26.12.2020

It is a quiet and peaceful night (rare when one lives so close to Topsail Road which is a drag strip on weekends with zero RNC presence). I am taking the time to work on what will be the final The Whostorian 'classic' of 2020. As I contemplate all that I need to convey to our listeners and supporters, it seems overwhelming. 2020 has seen tremendous personal loss, of fragile mental health, of the passings of good friend's family members and their own friends, of the passing o...f people that impacted on my life deeply as a fan. So much loss. So much heartbreak. I have friends that can't leave their homes without fear of a relentless virus, and it occurs to me that a little humble podcast about a time-traveling scientist is about to become quite real for me, once I hit that 'record' button. I will try to summarize events as best I can, to rant a little about Doctor Who because nearly 10 years of feedback has indicated fans get a kick out of that, so I aim to please. I'll tell stories of fan encounters and memories of those who have passed locally and in the geek community, and I'll try to put on a brave heart, Tegan. Thank you to Adam Peddle for letting me share his thoughts on the passing of Jason Conway, to Steve Lake for publishing the episode under his own circumstances that can't be easy, and for Chris Carter Lee TheGreat...I may have recounted our time with Jeremy Bulloch before on that podcast, but like an old warm glove, I'm putting it on again and flexing it (metaphorically). It's comforting, warm, and welcome moments worth reliving. My heart goes out to friends like Stephen Nolan, who lost a wonderful friend only a few days after regaling me on the podcast with such wonderful and witty memories of the great times of the fan club. He and I both needed the cheer on that night we recorded, and I hope that what I say about Jason will make him smile. Once more and for the final time this year, I saddle up for an episode of the podcast that will never go away. I dislike doing them without Steve as my co-host, but for the sake of posterity, of getting the feelings and emotions out and updating all who stayed loyal and still listen years later, I'll make it through. Stay tuned to thewhostorian.ca, once I've completed all my work I'll ship the file to Steve to do his magic. Love to all, and let us all hope 2021 will be better. Time will tell. It always does.
