It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me...and I'm feeling gooooooood! First day back from my lil Christmas break and I'm feeling excited about the new year and sharing some projects with everyone! Starting off with some Christmas gifts of course These knives were gifted to my family this year after MONTHS of preparation...well, kinda. Back in August I came up with this idea to make custom knives for the fam jam. I reached out to Ron Post in South River and ...he made me a beautiful set of knives with unfinished maple handles that I was able to burn. They turned out AMAZING, don't you think?! Seriously...if you're looking for some hand made knives and would like to support an incredible artisan...please reach out to Ron! I recently received confirmation this Secret Santa recipient received their gift in the mail so I can share it with you! Both the recipient and Secret Santa are fellow herpetologists so I knew I had to make this bookmark turtley awesome They both work closely with this species of turtle in Ontario, the Blandings Turtle. I was able to use a hatchling photo of my own for one side and the other side features an adult individual that was actually part of this persons research p...roject! I can officially say I'M DONE CHRISTMAS COMMISSIONS!!! I dropped this large window off yesterday on my Wooden Window Christmas Tour (that's what I called it!) which officially marked the end of Christmas orders I felt like Santa driving all around delivering gifts to friends and family (from a safe distance, outdoors, and with masks on). This window in particular was a big one so I definitely wanted to hand deliver it...luckily they were nice enough to meet me halfway to ...pick it up After some back and forth with her, we landed on a general design where each pane would be something different and that a few would have some pops of colour. Although made with enamel paint, everything is painted on the back to make cleaning easier and keeps the paintings safer from being scratched off. Another commission complete! The Birch trees and Chickadees piece is finished and I couldn't be happier! A wonderful couple brought me this large wood round back in February after they picked it up from a chainsaw competition! It required a bit of elbow grease to sand it down and I was shocked that it didn't crack throughout the drying process. The end result was this beautiful light wood that made for the perfect canvas You can also see how far a piece comes from an initi...al few scribbles, to the end result! My first Christmas order unveil! How cute is this farm sign I installed yesterday at my friend's @forestnfield_hobbyfarm This project was a little outside my wheelhouse but I love how it turned out! Best part is that each panel can be taken off or attached separately depending on what they have available! AND it's all made from recycled wood!!! Next summer is hopefully going to be a busy one for them now that they can let everyone know what amazing produce they have!
