We are navigating through very challenging times. Many clients, friends and family members we know have lost their jobs or closed their businesses, and our hearts go out to them. If you are looking for a new role and need support, we are offering a 30% discount off all career services (resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles and interview preparation) until April 10, 2020.
Many businesses are using video interviews to meet with candidates due to social distancing recommendations, and three of our clients are preparing for video interviews this week. Here are some tips to make a positive impression.
We feel so very lucky to have incredible clients. The Write Approach Professional Services is using the telephone, Skype, Teams and FaceTime to meet with clients to provide career documentation and other content/communications during this challenging time. Please be well, and thank you for your continued support!
Celebrate your victories (no matter how small)! I beat my last personal best by 8 seconds, but I’ll take it.
In honour of International Women’s Day, get in touch with what excites you and makes you feel more alive! Maybe it’s racing down a hill on a toboggan, jumping in puddles or laughing with good friends. Whatever it is, may you celebrate what makes you who are, and have the courage to share your gifts and passions with others.
I’m proud of myself because I kept going. My shoelace came undone, I had a sore calf muscle and I just didn’t have it today. I had multiple reasons not to keep going, but I did. If there is something slowing you down today, I hope you push through it. The end result is worth it!
INTERVIEW TIP Sharing pieces of yourself during an interview can help people relate to you. When I met a new client in the healthcare sector today, I shared that I grew up in a small town (Simcoe, Ontario). I’ve called a lot of towns and cities home over the years, and I’ve learned to adapt to new places and challenges. Sharing this particular experience helped to build rapport and begin this client relationship positively, and I hope it helps you or someone you know.
I’m lifting a glass (or four) to a weekend full of family, fun and more the a few laughs. My family brings me drinks when I’m working at home. While I only worked a couple of hours today to start my week off well, I’m grateful that they care enough to think of me. Have a wonderful week!
Most of my runs are close to my goal of finishing a 5k in 27 minutes. This goal is attainable, but definitely not easy! Whatever you’re striving for, put in the work. A consistent effort leads to consistent results!
Do you have a big goal for yourself in 2020, personally or professionally? I do, and I thought I would share it because so many of you share your goals with me. I want to find the time (not the easiest thing to do while running a business) and motivation to train to run my fastest 5k ever (under 27 minutes), and donate funds in honour of someone who believed in my ability to run a business long before I thought I could do it. If I can pull this off, I know you can do whatever you’re dreaming of and striving for, too!
