A quick session with @jacksone.elenko to clean up the relationship between the upper and lower body at front heel strike - AKA launch position. On the left, as the front heel lands the hands have already started to work forward leading to our body committing on pitches before our brain would like to. This leads to expanding the strike zone, feeling for the baseball out front, and most importantly robs hitters of the STRETCH that allows the lower half to begin to fire while l...eaving the upper half launched and ready to snap through the zone. On the right, much cleaner and stronger at heel strike. Notice the knob towards the catcher’s feet, the even weight distribution in the lower half, the back hip yet to release, and the distance between the front hip and the hands. From this position all that’s left is recognize and rip. .

Only two weeks left and the chase is on. Reminder to everyone that masks are required at the facility tonight. PS we have a new max velo at 101.5 by @sean_crave but the all time record holder for hardest hit ball in our facility’s history (110!) is in action tonight...let’s see what @jamieschoon has in store for us...

Just under halfway through our extended fall ball hitting program with @comba_sun_devils 18U College Prep. Commitment and buy in to the program have some guys taking HUGE strides offensively. Hit the ball hard and good things will happen. Lots of ‘22s on this list

Halfway home and we have some tight races both on the leaderboard and in the standings. A large logjam at 3-3 should space out this week...As well, we’re also watching @frontflipmatt on his triple hunt and seeing if playing on three teams is enough for Manda to lead the league in hits . Space is now limited in our winter league so be sure to sign up online or this week while you’re in!

Final week of our fall indoor league starts tonight! Triple crown hunt is very much alive for @frontflipmatt. Standings are tight and playoff schedule needs to be settled! Stats, standings, and this weekend’s bracket is now online. Weekend playoff series is best of 3.

Congratulations to Cade on his 2021 commitment to McCook Community College - a D1 juco in McCook, NE. Cade has grown before our eyes over the past two years and we look forward to following your path as you start your college career. Good luck Cade!

Working on creating some separation up top with @blake.court. As strong as he is, the ability to stretch out and create some distance with his hands will uncover untapped strength. It not only generates some extra zip through the zone but allows hitters to recognize pitches earlier and make adjustments if properly sequenced. The photo on the left looks more like a starting point than a launch point whereas the one on the right has him in a much stronger position as that front heel lands. As well, he gets more evenly distributed with his lower half on the right as opposed to hanging on the back side on the left. Still have work to do but huge gains over the past couple of weeks capped with a 94mph 370ft last night.

There is a lot to like about this particular swing by @ryandegroot16. This is a breaking ball down in the zone that Ryan is able to elevate. 1. His upper body bend allows him to attack the pitch at the right angle. 2. His top hand palm stays up through contact allowing him to keep his direction and not swing and miss over top of this pitch or tap it to an infielder. ... 3. Based on the point of contact, it’s clear there is no urge to yank this pitch to the pull side - which a lot of hitters will try and do. A leaky front hip is the enemy on the breaking ball. #baseball #baseballcoach #hitting #hittingcoach

Congratulations to Jeff on his 2021 commitment to the University of Calgary Dinos in Calgary, AB- a member of the CCBC. Jeff is a longtime member at the facility and will be a great addition for Coach Williams and his staff given his unbelievable work ethic. Jeff plans on majoring in biomechanics. Good luck Jeff!

We are pleased to have former Canadian National Team member Jocelyn Cater at The Yardhouse offering softball pitching lessons this fall. The youngest ever member to play for the national team, Jocelyn represented Canada at the Pan Am Games multiple times as well as pitched for both NCAA DI Washington and Syracuse. After two seasons as pitching coach for NCAA DI Canisius College, she is now in the Okanagan full time as the pitching coach at UBCO. Jocelyn’s knowledge and experience is off the charts and we are happy to have her in our facility. She has only a couple openings left for this fall so any pitchers looking to develop...it doesn’t get better than this. Send us a message directly for more info!
