We had a lovely evening, reflecting and writing at our recent online gathering with poet and potter, Sarah Pinder! . Following an inspiring and generous talk about her work and process, Sarah led our small group of 16 through some grounding collaborative and independent writing exercises to generate poetry together. . We've included a few samples of the images and writing that emerged from the session. Please enjoy! Note: the original words and images included with this post ...are those of the artists and writers credited (with thanks to them for generously sharing samples of their work) and some contain strong language. . Our Social Fabric Online Gatherings will resume in January 2021, following a brief break. We hope you’ll join us for more opportunities to connect creatively and craft community. Watch our Instagram and Facebook pages for details about the schedule, as well as other upcoming events and programming! . #community #art #communityarts #making #meeting #sharing #learning #connecting #socialfabric #craftingcommunity #commonthreads #thinkingrockcommunityarts . . . *EDIT: 8 spots left!* . We've thrilled at the excellent response we've received about our upcoming Online Gathering with Sarah Pinder! . Given the current number of registrations, and the focused nature of our activities (which are geared to teens/youth and adults), we'll be capping attendance at 20, and requiring registration in advance.... . Registration will be first come, first served - we've got 12 spots left! Email [email protected] by 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 15th to reserve your spot and receive the Zoom link. . Want to know more about Sarah Pinder? She's the author of Cutting Room (Coach House Books, 2012) and Common Place (Coach House Books, 2017). Her writing has been shortlisted for the Lambda Literary Awards, and included in magazines like Geist, Art and Poetry is Dead. Originally from Algoma, she now lives in Toronto. More about her work at www.sarahpinder.com . In the first hour of our gathering, we'll reflect with Sarah on our theme for the evening - Writing Bodies - as she speaks about her work. In the second hour, Sarah will lead us through some grounding collaborative and independent writing exercises to generate poetry together. The practices we’ll use to write together are also broadly applicable to other mediums - as well as your everyday life! All you'll need is something to write on, and something to write with. . We look forward to seeing you on November 17th starting at 6:30pm.
