Progress, big or small, is always wonderful to experience! Eye contact during play, a gesture for you to read a book, or even a new word spoken are all bits and pieces of progress. Just because it might seem small, doesn’t mean it isn’t a big deal

Sometimes how we say things can really impact our children’s view. They are like sponges and always soak up every little detail. Candy and treats are always a tough category. Though we don’t want our kids chowing down on a giant bag of skittles, there can be a different approach. You say : Candy is bad for you ... They might hear : bad things taste really good You say : No thank you, chocolate will make me fat They might hear : I eat chocolate, maybe I’m fat? That must be a bad thing Children’s interpretations on our wording can be very different from what we think we said. We’ve learned these wordings from years of advertisements, movies, and so on. Maybe you could be too full for chocolate right now, or it’s not time for candy just yet. Putting a smaller positive spin on it can make all the difference! See more
