Why should you have your water supply tested for bacteria? Testing your water quality on a regular basis is an important part of a mutibarrier approach to maintaining a safe and reliable source. The presence of bacteria and pathogenic (disease-causing) organisms is a major concern when considering the safety of your drinking water. Pathogenic organisms can cause intestinal infections, dysentery, typhoid fever, cholera, and other illnesses.

FYI.... In Ontario, if you own a property which has a water well, in use or not, you as the owner are responsible for it, and have legal environmental compliance obligations. For example, when hiring a service technician to install a pump, the duty must be performed by an individual who possesses a Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) Well Technician class 4 licence.
