We are just over a week away from the first lecture of our Fall 2020 Lecture Series. All talks will be via Zoom Webinar so you can view from the comfort and safety of your home. But you have to be a TALYR member, so if you have not yet renewed your membership or wish to become a new member, head over to www.talyr.ca and join us. Our first talk, on September 14th, will be from noted forensic anthropologist Dr. Myriam Nafte who will speak on "Forensics in Crime Solving."... From her intro: "Forensic investigation is a largely misunderstood field. The work of civilian scientists versus police is governed by areas of specialty that are quite distinct from one another. In this lecture, I define the evolving field of police forensics with an overview of the protocols governing crime scenes, warrants, security, and the processing of physical evidence. Much of my research and training has been in the identification of human remains in various forms of trauma and/or decomposition. Due to the nature of the physical evidence I process, it has been my experience to work alongside both police and forensic scientists as part of a team. Along with the important procedures, I will discuss some of the most challenging cases of my career." You don't want to miss this!

It was a true honour and a great privilege to meet Max Eisen this morning and to hear his first hand account of Holocaust survivorship as part of our TALYR fall speakers series. Now 90, and as vibrant as can be, Max at once made us laugh and cry, inspire and reflect. A truly memorable experience from a remarkable and truly courageous man. Max travels widely, speaking to, and educating, young and old alike and tries to make sure that the "Never Forget" really means something to everyone. If you have a chance to hear Max speak in your locale, or to read his award winning book "By Chance Alone" do not pass it up... It's not an "easy" listen or an "easy" read, but his story is remarkable and compelling and not to be missed.
