Artist Spotlight: Derek Wurts! Derek Wurts is an artist living in Saint John, New Brunswick. He holds an extensive background in various woodworking trades but is self-taught in the ways of painting and drawing. He plies his stream of consciousness craft in a smallish room of his Uptown apartment. Derek's work is on display at The Art Warehouse SJ until December 17th as part of the Third Space Members' Show + Sale. Artist Spotlight: Ashley Henwood! Ashley Henwood is a 26 year old artist located in the beautiful province of New Brunswick. Nestled in the woods close to the Bay of Fundy, she draws most of her inspiration from nature and the world that surrounds her. She pays attention to the simple pleasures in life and makes sure to always stop and smell the roses. These small moments are what inspire her the most. November 28th will be here in no time! We are very excited to host this workshop with artist Nathan Cann at Saint John Arts Centre. Send us a message to register, or email us at [email protected]. Using a style of monotype printing influenced by Edgar Degas and Japanese woodblocks, participants will learn print studio etiquette, dark-light field printing, exploratory techniques, and come away with a finished multi-coloured print. This workshop is for beginners and avid painters alike!

Artist Spotlight: Jack Bishop! Jack Bishop is originally from Quispamsis, New Brunswick, and received a BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax in 2007. Jack has shown his paintings regularly between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and has received creation grants from ArtsNB, Arts Nova Scotia, and the Canada Council for the Arts. His work is in numerous public and private collections across Canada and abroad. He has been featured in The National Post, Visual Arts News, in photo essays on CBC.ca, and most recently on the CBC television Arts program Exhibitionists. Jack lives and works in Halifax / K’jipuktuk, Nova Scotia. Jack's work is on display at The Art Warehouse SJ until December 17th as part of the Third Space Members' Show + Sale.

PERFform 21 begins at 2pm at the Saint John Arts Centre! Mathieu Leger, Linda Rae Dornan, and Emily Saab will be presenting a series of short performance art pieces. Admission is free, bring your masks!

We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of beloved New Brunswick writer, artist, and mentor Richard RM Vaughan. It was a privilege to host this reading and Q&A with RM in July. We would like to extend our sincerest condolences to RM’s family and friends in this difficult time.
