A second wave of COVID has hit Thailand and Hope agent Mercy Pattaya is making the necessary adaptions as much as possible to ensure the health and safety of children and families in their care. Aside from the difficulties of the situation, there's always some good! For example, the birth of a new baby boy! (who doesn't love baby pictures?) Over Christmas, Hope for the Nations Philippines delivered food and gifts to families and shared in the Christmas spirit with the local community: "We prepared and delivered food baskets and gift bags to our 31 partner farmers and their families. Because most of them have never celebrated Christmas as a group before, we bought several solar-powered Christmas lights and decorated the huts and trees in the community and we made tiki torches to light the pathways. Our partner fa...rmers were so happy to receive those food baskets that night because, they were able to celebrate Christmas in the comfort of their homes prepare a decent Noche Buena feast for their families." "I'd like to update you on the Children Home in Salleri first phase. Due to the lockdown, the project development is taking longer than expected. But the project is looking very beautiful, strong and we are all very excited to open soon. You can see from the pictures that we installed beautiful woods bunk beds, reading tables, and more!" https://www.hopeforthenations.com/agents/the-small-world/

A family connection update from the Agape Children's Home in Ghana . . . "One of our goals is to help our orphans know where they came from and perhaps establish a relationship with a family member. This can be very challenging sometimes. This month we traveled to Junior’s hometown so that he could see where he came from and meet some of his relatives. Junior lost both of his parents at a very young age and no one in the village was willing to take care of him due to their o...wn poverty and family disputes. However, his sister stayed in the village because one of the relatives insisted on taking care of her. Going back to meet them opened Junior’s eyes to the blessing he had received at our Home; the blessing of God’s presence in his life. Junior’s sister is now married and the mother of 3 young boys. She never had the opportunity to go to school. Junior got to meet his nephews and is now determined to do well in the future so that he can help his sister and nephews. Junior will be applying for college next year. This year he is working as an assistant teacher."
