When you go to take photos of a home being listed for rent and they have a three-month-old puppy...

Last fall Ali + Mark got married during hurricane dorian. They had such an amazing attitude, a crew of wonderful people, and the celebration was a hit...but I know we were all a little sad that it wasn't safe to get outside for any images at beautiful Fox Harbour. So last night, we went out to the ocean and grabbed some shots of these two in the beautiful Nova Scotia mist. Thank you Emily Knowles for coming along and helping is get some fun shots, rocking the veil flip (you... did great Mark) and some lighting! Thanks Ali + Mark for having great attitudes then and now! I love that I work in an industry full of creative and talented women (and men! but this one is showcasing the women who pulled this look together!) I know it's a tough time for many creatives who can't work the way that they usually would, but I am confident people will still love their families and want photos of that, and that people will still want to get married post quarantine life (naive of me???) lol. Creatively I'm funneling my energy into creative ways to keep my ...kids engaged, entertained and educated while still having fun and staying sane! Well though I loved my very beautiful winter elopement, I feel like I need to put some more light, and bright, and even more love back into the feed here! Was going through Ali + Mark's Gallery Yesterday getting ready to put together the final touches on their USB and this shot just totally grabbed my attention. I love the intensity, the movement, and the anticipation in the moment! Ali looks like you got yourself a good set of hurricane body guards!!! (PS Fox Harb'r Resort this guy deserves a raise!) He was SOAKED from head to toe for HOURS and still was happy and kind!!!)

When you start off a session with this beautiful woman telling you that she is really clumsy...and my response is something along the lines of "you're not alone", it shouldn't come as a shock that near the end of our session when I went to pick up the shawl (that I dropped) flicking it up off the ground and it LITERALLY took the (thankfully magnetic) eyelashes off of one Sara's eyes. Thankfully no eyes (or anything else) were injured and we got some great shots, but we apparently make quite the pair. Thankfully these two are sweet and cute and he seems to not endanger her safety (though he did BUY the shawl....so that's kind of on him right????) JK You guys are awesome and can't wait for your intimate winter wedding! xo

I live exactly 11 minutes from this spot. Unless I am behind a school bus or garbage truck. I go sometimes after dropping the kids off at school, or with them after school. I have taken photos there of my family, friends, and clients... not as much as my old High Head Trail, Prospect stomping grounds, but I've been there quite a bit....but never have I seen light like this! A beautiful dramatic sky and the sun shining through at just the right spot. Almost like someone was... shining down on this very special first look at the same place they got engaged (ok not the very same ROCK but pretty close!) Less than 10 minutes later it was dark and raining, but I am super thankful for this magical moment and glorious light! Can't wait to share more with you two! See more

Congratulations to Gabbie + Gary on their White Point Beach Resort wedding yesterday! Not a cloud in the sky, a couple in love and a beautiful gentle breeze made the day perfection!

Last night was one of those epic kind of nights, where the sun, wind and beautiful couple full of love worked together to create magic! And just as we finished our last shot the rain started, I don't think things could have worked together better! (Minus learning that my romper pocket doesn't securely hold my phone...aka a quick search in a field... Phewph!)

This weekend I got to be a guest at a wedding for the first time in over ten years (and almost 200 weddings!) but my beautiful cousin Elle Crosby got married this weekend and family and friends gathered to celebrate on Prince Edward Island. It was a weird to not be the primary photographer, but great to spend time with family and to get to take some photos of the weekend just for fun! I wanted to share a few (unedited) images from the weekend, because I think it's fun for yo...u to see this is how I see the world, even when it's not my "job"! Not going to lie I had to take some deep breaths after the request for no photography during the ceremony... ok ok maybe I broke the rules for the one of my cousin Anna singing during the document signing! shhhh don't tell!) I especially love the one of my aunt (and Godmother) Rita laughing. She is such a wonderful person and so loving and caring, I loved seeing her enjoying the celebrations so much! So much love to go around! You know what? I can remember being in bed when my labour started with Finn, my second little love... I was crying, not sure how I could possibly have enough love to love Addy as much as I did, and then have another. What would happen? How could I share this love! It's love week!!! Actually I don't know if thats a thing... but I just sent my hubby about twenty five text messages about how we were going to make this week special...... ***confession time*** I used to HATE Valentines Day! This one time I was parked in front of a floral shop, when I was like sixteen. And guys the line up was OUT THE Door. Like WAYYYYYYYYYY out. And as I watched men walk out the door with: a rose a bunch of roses a teddy bear and a rose a rose and a balloon a balloon and a teddy bear and I felt like these guys weren't really thinking about THEIR loves. Just what they were "supposed to do" yes yes... ***judgement alert*** but I let it ruin the possibility of ME enjoying it. I get now that maybe other ladies like roses and teddy bears. Just because I don't love em, doesn't mean others don't! Right? Like why shouldn't I take any excuse to eat strawberries and nutella and show the people I love that I love them. So a candlelit spaghetti dinner with the kids... reading that now it sounds like a mess waiting to happen. A hike and our fave lunch spot with hubby. And.... OF COURSE.... lots and lots of love. Ok so what do people do when they live somewhere like REALLY cold? Today I am considering how I can move somewhere warm every winter. 35 year old snowbird?? Is that a thing??? lol but at least I have awesome couples who pretend to not be COMPLETELY frozen as we shoot downtown! Stay warm out there friends!!! Or at least don't freeze!

January is off to a much slower start than I expected.... Did that happen for anyone else?? It's not like I'm not doing anything....or just lazing around (ok but I am doing this post from my bed.... lol #perksofworkingfromhome) But in terms of getting done the hundreds of items on my to do list (The anydo app tells me having 65 listed for today might hinder my productivity) And one of those things is sharing more images with you here on Facebook (along with stories of why ...we're here!) There is something about capturing a moment which is pure magic to me, and why I just can’t seem to stop! I actually experience things more fully when I get to capture them with my camera! ... OK guys I’m guilty. It’s true. I don’t always remember what a gift it is to be able to capture everyday moments in a special way. Like today, I really almost didn’t take my camera to Addy’s dance recital. It wasn’t a big show and I kind of stuck out with my telephoto lens (that’s the big like ten pound one) so I thought maybe I just bring my phone, maybe ... but I decided to go for it and haul out the big guns.... ... Ahhhh guys, seriously the love!!! This little nugget sleeping in mammas arms!!! Did you know this shot was in their home? I ask cuz it looks almost studio esque to me. But we found the best light, moved a crib and then... #swoon amiright!!? Ok so... I know some people get stressed about having people, let alone a photographer... With cameras (gasp!) come into their home. To help ease your panicked heart; here's a couple things you need to know about #lifetogether sessions :... We still offer lots of direction and suggestions, the end goal just isn't to have all smiling and looking at the camera pics. (Though we get those too!) I will never judge you on the cleanliness of your house (ok I might think you're a little crazy if you have a pristine house with a family living there, but more out of sheer amazement!) If it helps I can send you a pic of my house at any time, it will put you at ease I promise! We have fun. The best way to capture the best pics is for everyone to be at ease.
