Did you know the Sunshine Coast is raptor heaven? "On a good day (and the best observation days are on clear days immediately after the passing of a front) there is a continual procession of birds passing overhead with up to 50 birds an hour." Today is one of those good days - get outside and look up ;)

Join local food producers, Chefs Mark and Haglit, local homestead craftspeople and of course, your local farmers as we bring the season's best bounty of food and home-made crafts to our annual thanksgiving Homesteading Fall Fair on Saturday October 13th from noon until 4:00 pm at the Roberts Creek Masonic Lodge. Our wonderful summer has resulted in a bountiful harvest and we have been busy picking, pickling, cooking, baking, drying, canning and smoking and we look forward t...o showing our community just how delicious locally grown food can be. Its not just about the food as local homesteaders will be on hand with their hand-made wares: knitting, medicinal products, wool, and soaps to name just a few. We have two contests - Best Preserve and Best Ugly Home-grown produce...all of this plus fun for the kids. There will be a Winnower demo by the Seed Collective and bring along a chainsaw if you are interested in our 2PM Chainsaw sharpening workshop. The SC Community Solar Association will be there too so there is lots to see and learn. Be sure to check-out the Great Pumpkin Selfie station and try a warming cup of Hot apple cider. If you have some time to volunteer for this event, contact Tawha via the RC Farm Market facebook page and we look forward to sharing this day with the community.

Just remember that even though the BC State of Emergency has been lifted, the campfire ban is still in place for the Sunshine Coast. A few more days of solid rain and then there's likely time for some early fall fires and beach get togethers still to come! #sunshinecoastbc #freerangelivingsc
