Thistlebrook just turned 6 years old! Can't believe how fast the time went. Our tiny class of 4 is now over 30 students spread over 4 days of classes and private lessons. Incredibly thankful for all of the dancers and parents during this time

We start classes September 8th! Things will be a little different this time with all of our extensive covid protocols, however, we will still have fun, excersize, make friends, and complete a successful season! Brand new this year, our class for students with needs. We welcome all ages & abilities!

Shoutout to Natalie! After a couple community performances with our studio, Natalie organized and planned with her friends to put on a little show in their cul de sac. Natalie's initiative, passion, drive, and kindness always speaks volumes. Well done lady, we are proud!

A few band members teamed up with some of the dancers from the Thistlebrook Academy of Highland Dance today to entertain some Surrey & Langley senior citizens. The kids’ performances helped put smiles on a lot of faces! Thanks to Miss Meghan for inviting our kids to join your dancers!

Yesterday we visited two senior complexes to parade and perform for the residents. We teamed up with some of the White Spot Pipe Band and Capt. Trevor Caldwell to bring some scottish music & dance to Surrey and Walnut Grove. Thank you to everyone who came to dance, pipe, drum, and watch! Huge thank you to the two Langley RCMP officers who gave us our escort. Thistlebrook is going to continue to spread the joy next week... in the sun!!

Our dancers are taking the socially distanced outdoor stage this Friday at two senior villages to bring some joy and bagpipes in the sun! We will also be completing a small parade down 212th and 92nd in Walnut Grove!

Happy Mothers Day to our dance moms, grandma's, and all of the amazing, hardworking, supportive, generous, loving mom's out there. We love you!

Big congratulations to my boy Cooper!! Just received the email he was invited to the SDTA North American Scholarships again! Looks like we'll be heading to Nova... Scotia in September of 2021. Cooper, you are an awesome role model, have amazing sportsmanship, and a very talented dancer. Way to go! See more

Our weekly Challenge winners!! Jacob and Ivy won based on timing, technique, and turnout. Everyone did a fantastic job and our two judges had a difficult time choosing... They thought all the choreographies were so creative!

Happy Spring Break! Classes will NOT be in session the 16-20th, but will be back in full kilt swing on the 22nd!

So proud of these two! Cooper danced well, battling sickness and an injury. Chelsea came out with 5th Runner up in the Championship and placed well in her nationals. At the end of it all, OLIVE GARDEN! Another wonderful day!

BCHDA - Natalie & Zahara did extremely well in Beginner 9&O, and Mackenzie received a medal in her first intermediate competition!

UPDATE: Our class for children with needs is looking for two (or more) dancers to join us. We are organizing a trial hour over spring break to see what works best, to make this a fun, succesful year for everyone! If your child is creative, loves music, dance, and movement, send us a PM or reach Meghan at 604-764-7344. As well, we are planning our summer dance camp for August. Although you can try a class at anytime, this is a great opportunity to give it a go and get to know our wonderful dance family!

We announced at our Christmas Show that we have a new SDTA Associate Teacher, Miss Chelsea Hossack. Chelsea, you are my first student to put through the teachers exams and I couldn't be more proud of you! You are such a wonderful roll model, grown into a confident young woman, and I'm so excited to see where this takes you.

Over the long weekend we travelled down to Seattle for the SDTA North American Scholarships - Congratulations to all the dancers! It was Cooper and Jake's first time attending, they were fantastic! This was Chelsea's third year and she received judges points in the Master Class. Thank you to everyone who made this weekend possible- The dancers were so excited about the new steps/techniques they learned and just to have this wonderful experience!

The first of 8 Burns Day (Week) Performances! Today we were at the Peninsula. They had chips and cookies for us which was a huge hit! (note the empty basket) Side Story of today: I found out I’ve trained them well! Jacinda (6) told the lady who brought in the treats, Miss Meghan says we have to wait until AFTER dancing to have those. How about Evangeline’s shoe service?!
