Lost second round in Shepparton last week 8-11 in the fifth. I was down 0-2 and didn't know how I was going to turn the match around. Madison Eggert gave me a great pep talk and a quick strategy fix and I ended up finding myself playing the best squash of my life. I was up 6-2 in the fifth game and on my way to winning when my opponent took an injury break. He caught his wind back and won a few quick points when he came on. By this point I had lost my momentum and was feeling... anxious about attacking the front of the court and began playing too passive. He grinded it out and ended up taking the game 11-8 to win the match 3-2. Credit to him as he gutted the match out. I'm pretty disappointed in the loss but am also proud that I found a way to fight back and give myself an opportunity to win which is something I've been lacking my first few years on tour. Just have to trust the process. I have one more tournament in Coffs Harbour which starts Friday before I head back home to Canada. It's been a great trip so far down under, but it's not over yet! Wish me luck!! #kingsquash #salmingsquash #burntheships See more

First time making the second round of a 10k main draw! Really happy with the way I played in Bega last week. I thought I stepped up really well during the big points in my first match. In my second I fought hard to come back to win the third game but just didn't have enough of a winning shot to finish the points at the end of the fourth game. So close!! All in all thank you to the Haigh family for billeting me in Bega and John for running such a great tournament! #kingsquash #salmingsquash #burntheships

Gold Coast snuck out the win last night! Canadian duo Madison Eggert and I won the final two matches which tied the teams at 2-2 in the pair-ups. We beat Daisy Hill Club by only a few total points combined at the end of the night which makes us 2nd in the league now (pretty sure). In order from ugliest to prettiest we have Madison (Puma), Lachlan (Lochy), Courtney (Kanye) and Thomas (Tommy 2 Chainz). #kingsqush #salmingsquash #burntheships

Team Gold Coast beat Club Wavell in the Brisbane league last night 3-1. I won 3-0 11-9 11-9 11-9. Really cool being a part of a team like that! Had a good day of training today in Gold Coast followed by a 12k bike ride and Ice bath. #kingsquash #salmingsquash #burntheships

Great time in Bendigo this week. Too bad I couldn't pull through in my match with Corben White of Australia. I had him 2-1 and 7-4 in the fourth but just couldn't close it out! He ended up winning in the fifth. It was definitely not my best game especially the physical side of it but I did what I could with what I had. Thank you Russel, Katy and Skittle for taking me in and looking after me. Time to go back to Gold Coast and do some training/league matches. Next tourney is in Melbourne August 1st for the Australian Open. #kingsquash #salmingsquash #burntheships

Draw for tomorrows matches. Playing qualifier from Melbourne Corben White. Wish me luck!! Also shoutout to Madison Eggert who's playing on the court beside me. Even though he can't serve it in on match ball, I'll still be cheering for him... #kingsquash #salmingsquash #burntheships

Lost in Adelaide first round to a good Kiwi player. Hurt my foot in the first game which really slowed me down but I did what I could and happy to be playing squash again. It's been too long since my last tournament. Next up Bendigo on Thursday against a qualifier! (Fingers crossed for a good draw!) #kingsquash #salmingsquash #burntheships

Thomas King 12.04.2020

Sorry for the absence!!! Here's the update: I've spent my time since February recovering from 3 injuries that have pretty much kept me out of training and competition. I've done what I could training wise and competed when necessary but never at my full potential. The lack of playing and tournaments was not planned at the start of the season and so I've decided to spend my summer training and competing in Australia to make up for the lost time. There's a group of Aussie pros ...training at the Commonwealth Games legacy courts in the new club in Carrara (Gold Coast). I arrived in Gold Coast, Australia today (long enough flight). Staying with Madison Eggert here along with playing 6 PSA tournaments and two leagues. One in Brisbane and one in Gold Coast. I'll be here for exactly 2 months and I plan to make every day count! Had a fun weekend in Windsor Ontario. The team came 9/10th place which is what we were seeded. We deffinately could have upset a couple of our matchups but unfortunately didn't. I got to see Jahangir Khan (5.5 years unbeaten) hit some balls and give a speech as well. Met up with some old and new squash friends and saw some great squash. Very lucky to have snuck into the Canada Cup this past Saturday! It was my largest tournament to date being a 50k tournament. I only had about 15 hours notice and I thought my chances of playing this were out the window. Despite losing 0-3 I think that was the best squash I've played in competition. I played every point like it was my last point and I think I could have won any of those games. I also have to say Dimitri is a super fit and talented player. He's ranked #87 in ...the world and only 20 yrs old. He will definitely be a heavy weight in the years to come and I'm glad I can say I was competitive with him. Next up Men's Team Championships in Windsor next weekend. Team Sask represent Also shoutout to Brian Mills at Salming for watching me play and being the loudest supporter outside the court the other day!! #kingsquash #salmingsquash #teamsask #trainhardfighteasy

Couldn't make it past the qualifying this week in The Hat unfortunately. Jake and I had a solid match but he was better than me at finishing the rallies (apparently that's needed to win..). Thanks Justin and his family for billeting me and it's too bad I couldn't have stayed longer. Also good luck to all the Saskatchewan guys playing in the amateur event this weekend! Tough week in Calgary at Bankers Hall. Just coming back from 8 days off with another shoulder injury wasn't enough preparation. Thank you Bob Ballinger for running an amazing event and thank you to Matt and Dana Eisentraut for hosting me the second year in a row. You guys are wonderful. I made it through the first round here in Medicine Hat beating hometown hero Matt Teel. Tough match but managed a 3-0 W. playing Jake Hooker in the qualifying finals tomorrow night at 7:00. ...Wish me luck! ---------------------------------------------- "Here's the thing that makes life so interesting... Lost to Cameron Stafford of Cayman Islands 2nd round qualifying. I was totally unprepared for the attacks he was hitting, all credit to him as he was the better player. Glad I could make 2nd round for the third time in a row. Really feeling like all of the work is starting to pay off and I'm hungry for more. More photos should be on their way so in the meantime I've stolen this one from Cameron's Facebook! (Don't tell)... I won my first round qualifying match 3-0 tonight against Mubarak Mohsin of Pakistan!! Playing tomorrow against Cameron Stafford of Cayman Islands. Wish me luck!... Awesome Exhibition with Kimesh Chetty for the Regina Squash League. His 4 winners (and probably accidental ) from 7-9 down in the fifth was too much for me. Great match buddy and Regina is lucky to have you in the community. #KingSquash #salmingsquash #TeamSask #Trainhardfighteasy

Thomas King 13.06.2019

Update Lost out to Noel Heaton in Kelowna 2nd round qualifying. He played great and deserves the W. I didn't play near my best but I guess that's what happens when you don't play squash for 6 weeks... all credit to him. And thank you Ian, Joey, Joel Casey and the crew in Kelowna for billeting me and putting on arguably one of the best tournaments on tour! I plan to be back next year! Spent a couple days in Regina before the Saskatoon Boast. Very happy to make it to the 2nd ...round qualifying in this 10k. I played Sam Scivier of Vancouver and won in 4 narrow games. He is an up and coming junior and I'm definitely going to be watching out for him. The duration was an hour and fifteen mins. The third game was a deadly 19-17. Anyhoo, I play Kimesh Chetty (former Western Captain) Wednesday evening. Should be a tight match. More photos to come! #KingSquash #salmingsquash #ec3dcompression #TeamSask #TrainHardFightEasy

Thomas King 26.05.2019

Won my first round qualifying match here in Kelowna against local George James. He played hard and has a really tricky short game. Glad I could win 3-0 and make it to the qualifying finals. This was the first time I played squash in 6 weeks without any pain in my shoulder and I'm really thankful for it (Not counting Guatemala as a proper match attempt). I didn't know if I would be able to compete this soon when I started treatment but I'm glad I can. I play tomorrow at 6pm lo...cal, 8pm Saskatchewan and 9pm Toronto time against Noel Heaton of Calgary. He's a great player and we've had some huge battles as juniors. Should be a great match tomorrow and am really looking forward to it! "You don't have to prove anything to anybody, including yourself" -Mark Manson #KingSquash #Salming #TeamSask #TrainHardFightEasy

Thomas King 21.05.2019

Not the ideal week in Guatemala for me. After 5 weeks of recovering from a shoulder injury, I got a virus in Guatemala losing out in 3 quick games first round. I've never been that sick in my life and spent 48 hours contemplating if I would even survive to tell the story. I didn't think I would be able to play my match obviously but after seeing a doctor and some inspirational motivation from Madison Eggert, I pulled myself together to play. I guess I'd rather lose the fight ...than miss the war! Off to Kelowna for my next tournament on Sunday but in the meantime am going to sight see Antigua (Spanish Colonial City) and hopefully the nearby volcano! If you don't win, might as well be a tourist eh! I want to thank Justin Vanderleest and his team at Citrus Medical for looking after me while I was recovering. He is the best physiotherapist for any squash player in my opinion. Lastly I want to thank Tyler Millard and the Toronto Racquet Club for training me off court while I wasn't able to hit the ball. Toronto-Denver-Albuquerque-Santa Fe Tough week last week in Santa Fe losing to the better player. Not the scores I'm proud to post but am happy with my progress over the summer. A year ago I would have struggled to just adapt to the altitude. Glad I could adapt mid match to the 7,200ft altitude and find a more successful way to win points (as running around like a fool didn't help the oxygen situation). Thank you Drewe Williams and the guys for running a great tournament! I'...d love to be back but hopefully next time I won't be begging for oxygen! Also thank you to Paul and Ashley Margetson for billeting me and providing me with puppies for the week. Too bad I couldn't keep them. Santa Fe-Albuquerque-Chicago-Toronto Time to regroup and get ready for the next tournament: Nash Cup in London Ontario (One of the many great tournaments to play this year). Super excited to be training this summer and playing next season with Salming gear! I've had my eyes on their equipment for months and even won the Saskatchewan Open with their Forza racquet! My experience with Salming has been great. I am very particular with the equipment I use and Salming seems to have the answers I am looking for. Salming has exploded onto the squash scene in recent years with professionally designed racquets and great equipment from head to toe. I am very excited to be a part of this premier brand and without a doubt I believe Salming has an exceedingly bright future. Not to mention they have the coolest clothing line in all of squash ! #Kingsquash #Salming #trainhardfighteasy
