Flash Back 40 Years Film and TV #10 December 1999 to Jan 2000 Celebrating 40 years in Film and Television -Anthony J Towstego Without Malice ... 20th Anniversary In 1999, Kevin Dewalt )ceo Minds Eye Entertainment) The Sask Producer’s group , SMPIA , Saskfilm , and others helped to Implement the Saskatoon Initiative. The plan was for eight low budget feature films to take place in Saskatoon and north. This then gave eager young crew much needed production hands on training through future skills and credit also helping to build a solid second crew base. With the tax credit legislated, the financing and (with USA distributor Saban on board ) low CAN dollar, the process was in place. Anthony Towstego (President Thomega Ent) was privileged to take part in co-producing and in association with Minds Eyes, the first two features Without Malice and Murder Seen we’re underway! With Rob King handily directing , 35 sask crew residents and seasoned mentors from Regina, including Rhonda Baker, Peter LaRocque and so many great folks, became an overall outstanding cast and crew - that literally lived and worked together two months,Dec 1999 with wrap in January 21,2000, in beautiful scenic Wasksui, Prince Albert National Park. With Jennifer Beals, Graig Shefer and Corey Haim on board, the outcome was an incredible experience and a top notch production! Towstego was tasked with the environmental assessment in the park, a document that became a relative book and required extensive research and an overall hard lobby effort. The parks folks eventually graciously got behind the producers and rest is history , forever captured on 35mm ! A proud endeavour that was a memorable enjoyable safe shoot ! And most of 2m budget sask spend in a place that had never expected such economic impact in the middle of Winter. A 20th Anniversary screening is planned in Wasksui, post Covid , 2021 hopefully. Celebrating 40 years Film and TV When the name Thomega was conceived , Anthony Towstego carved it in a log from Waskesui Lake , Prince Albert National Park . The name was a combination representative of his grandfathers and their spiritual guidance
