World Travel Series January 11 We were treated with such respect and really at no time when we were in Lesotho did we feel endangered (except on public transit maybe, drivers were crazy!) and that is something to say when the ties to South Africa were so close. The hiking and camping was amazing. We would ask permission to camp near villages and were never refused. Entertainment for the children watching the white guys and all their gear.

World Travel Series January 10 On holidays we loved to get into South Africa to visit game parks and check out wild life. Always enjoyed seeing elephants. Looking at a number of my slides, they are nowhere near as clear as I thought they were. Back then, everything was manual, settings and focus. I’d love to go back with the gear I have now!

World Travel Series January 7 There were three grade levels at the school and English was the language of instruction. There was no electricity and only one tap for student and staff use. At times the pump was broken and we were lucky enough to have a car so would drive to friends to get water jugs filled. Kid always put on a happy face. Boys would often start school late because they were herd boys with the families livestock (a sign of wealth). It wasn’t uncommon for the girls to be 13 and the boys over 20 in the same grade.
