There is no profit to be made in rescue. In fact, most days, we’re barely getting by. In the last two months alone, our vet bills have topped a whopping $60,000.... Scary right? As a volunteer-run not-for-profit rescue, we rely heavily on your support to save dogs in need. A huge thank you to everyone that has donated to our specialized vetting fund! So far, we have raised $12,599 of our $15,000 goal and we are so grateful for every donation. Thanks to your generosity, dogs like Chance will get another leash on life. At just 12 weeks, Chance came to us from a Northern Community where his family had left him for weeks to suffer with an untreated broken leg. When rescued, he was malnourished, infested with fleas, lice and fecal parasites, and had discharge and blood in both ears from tick bites. He would cry and whimper in pain. With Chance’s quality of life top of mind, initially the decision was made to amputate the leg. After further consults with several veterinarians, we decided to take a watch and see approach as the bone appeared be fusing and building fibrous tissue. Although his leg is 6 -7 cm shorter than the other, Chance is a resilient happy boy that’s learning how to cope with his disability. Now without his cast, he enjoys playing, swimming and short walks, all of which are carefully supervised by his foster mom! At this time, the vets are cautiously optimistic that Chance will be able to keep his leg, but we’ll know more at his next follow up. Whatever the case, our priority is to ensure that Chance has the best possible quality of life long term. Please will you consider helping us? Our credit card debit is mounting and to continue our work, we need to pay down some of our outstanding invoices. Every cent count and donations over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt.
