Thornton Creek Hatchery

We are coming up on the time of year when visitors start expressing interest in coming to Thornton Creek. Unfortunately we are still unable to open due to COVID-19 restrictions, and anticipate remaining closed for the foreseeable future. Please respect the hatchery grounds and staff and plan your next visit for 2021. We look forward to welcoming people back when it is safe to do so. Ucluelet and Tofino residents, please spread this information to anyone who is inquiring about visiting the hatchery this season. Thank you!

Easter came early at Thornton Creek Hatchery as we received a valuable gift from Cermaq last week. Cermaq Canada Ltd very generously donated an AED to complement our Emergency Preparedness Plan at Thornton Creek Hatchery. Our staff, directors and volunteers are most grateful for this thoughtful gift to our organization. Cermaq has a strong Health and Safety Program and we are grateful that they are able to help make ours stronger. A very huge THANK YOU from Thornton Creek Enhancement Society to the team at Cermaq!

Hi Everyone! As we are sure many of you have heard, Pacific Rim Whale Fest is cancelled for this year. With this news we will be cancelling our Rubber Fish Race event as well. We plan to reschedule the event but cannot give a confirmed date quite yet. As things move forward we will keep you up to date with our decision for rescheduling. Thank you to everyone for purchasing fish already! Those purchases will all be honoured for when we reschedule. If you have any concerns ple...ase call us at the hatchery 250-726-7566. Fuel Good Day is coming up on Tuesday, September 17! Fill up your tank this coming Tuesday at the Ucluelet Co-op Gas Bar, and Co-op will donate $0.05/L of fuel purchased to Thornton Creek Enhancement Society! With an overwhelming amount of gratitude we would like to acknowledge Joleen Sohier (and Angus and Annie!) yet again for her incredible donation to Thornton Creek Enhancement Society! The Salmon runs are over, which means the bears are no longer actively fishing on rivers. As a result our regular visitation hours have ended. Thanks to all for supporting us throughout this season of broodstock enhancement, education, and visitation. If you have any questions or inquiries we can be contacted here or at 250-726-7566...
