Goodbye 2020! We are so grateful to our supporters, retailers, and customers who have chosen to buy from local, Canadian businesses like ours. These small, everyday choices for you make a big and meaningful impact on us in all times but especially over the past year. We appreciate every order, comment, review, recommendation, email, and expression of support from you. Thanks to you, we are ready to move into 2021 with hope and optimism in continuing our mission to make the world greener and wilder. For 2021 we hope you will join us in finding ways to love yourself, love each other, and love our planet. Happy New Year!

The holidays mean a lot of things for us, including enjoying good food with our loved ones. While things are quite different this year, we are keeping one tradition alive by making one of our favourite holiday treats: Almond Roca. It can be easily put together with your pantry staples, which means less running around and more time spent on what matters - each other! Wishing you a happy holiday season. Find our recipe on our blog: www.threeforagers.ca/blog/2020/honey-almond-roca

We made delicious banana chocolate chip muffins and substituted honey for sugar (3/4 cup honey: 1 cup sugar). This can be subbed for all baking recipes using this ratio, in this case we made @fraicheliving and @jillian.harris Banana muffins recipe and they turned out perfect! #rawhoney #threeforagersbeeco #baking #fraichefoodfullhearts #healthybaking

With winter weather quickly making an appearance in a lot of Canada, sunny photos like this remind us of how lucky we are to experience four seasons, even if winter is the longest one!

Anyone have a Halloween hangover? You can only ride the sugar high for so long, but if you’re looking for something sweet that doesn't contain the white sugar or corn syrup found in most candy, try our Honey Caramels! Available in Original, Lemon and Sea Salt, these are a must try that will have you coming back for more with a little less guilt!

It's that time of year when both bees and beekeepers are ready to go inside and get cozy for the winter. Soon the bees will be clustering into a warm ball to keep each other toasty during the colder months, and slowly eating the honey they have worked hard to collect until it's time to start up again next spring! Not too different from what we'll be doing ourselves

Are you a spicy bee? Our Asian-inspired infused honey goes with everything that could use a sweet and spicy finish. Kashmiri chili, garlic, and Spanish paprika pair perfectly with our Pure Canadian Honey. Put this on savoury BBQ meats, pizza, roasted veggies, hot wings, or on your cheese board - everything is kicked up a notch when a spoonful of this honey is added!

There’s something about a warm cup of tea, good book and a blanket on an Autumn day. Our new Cozy Chai Honey is the perfect accompaniment for oatmeal, hot cider, fresh bread and of course chai lattes! Aromatic and warming spices like cardamom, cloves, nutmeg and ginger are infused with our raw honey, making a combo that will put you in the coziest of moods.

Live green, eat wild! As beekeepers, we pay special attention to many details that surround us: are those trees budding yet? When will those bushes bloom? How close are we to the nectar flow? And constantly - weather, weather, weather. Some years we get too much rain, or smoke from far away forest fires, or not enough clear, sunny days for bees to fly out and work. Other years we get lucky and the rain comes at the right time and goes away at the right time too, and the bees... are buzzing happily and the honey is plentiful. We are so lucky that our work gives us a front seat on whats going on with Earth each day. Not only today but every day we are inspired to Live Green and Eat Wild. Eat local, live sustainable, care for each other, care for our planet. This is a beautiful arbutus, just about ready to bud, on the beach near our Vancouver Island apiary. Happy Earth Day! #honey #creamedhoney #rawhoney #purefood #eatlocal #canadianfood #yyjfood #vanisland #yxefood #yycfood #madeincanada #yvrfood #yyzfood #yegfood #foodie #earthday #canadianhoney #localhoney #localfood #buylocal #goodfood

Consider the honeybee. Individually, she works to feed baby bees to help them grow, or flies out to pollinate flowers and bring home sweet nectar to store away for the winter months. Or, she might be building and cleaning honeycomb, fighting off little mite pests on her sisters, or standing guard at the edge of the hive to ward off intruders. But goodness, she cant do it alone. She works alongside tens of thousands of her sisters in their home, each one making sure that they... are doing their job to protect the hive and help the entire colony thrive. Each one isnt doing it for themselves. Alone, a honeybee cant make it. But a whole hive, all together, can accomplish incredible things. So can we! We are in a situation now that is bringing out the best in people, those on the frontlines and in the research labs, working hard as hell to stop this virus in its tracks. We have those in the community getting supplies to the hospitals and those who are making sure people get food and necessities in their homes. Every single person in our world hive has a role to play not for themselves but for everyone else. For most of us that role is to STAY HOME so that one isnt giving the virus a place to hang out undetected until it moves on to the next person. So that someone elses parent, child, sibling, or friend doesnt have to suffer from complications of the virus and cant get help because there arent enough ventilators or because the hospital staff dont have enough protective equipment to reach them. So that someone who has a heart attack, a car accident, or any other illness, doesnt have to face the prospect of not being treated because there are no hospital beds left for them. So that medical staff arent continually overwhelmed and working themselves to the bone to keep this at bay, compromising their own immunity and eventually our communitys ability to fight this through the long term. Like a hive, we can accomplish incredible things together, because we each still have the opportunity to do the right thing NOW. Be part of the solution. Be the honeybee! (But keep more distance than these bees do.)

Have you ever wondered how we make our Honey Caramels? The first step in the process is a slow boiling down of our pure and natural ingredients. We keep a watchful eye on our candy thermometer while the mixture thickens and turns a beautiful darker shade. Once the caramel reaches the right temperature, we prepare for the next step - stay tuned for that!

We met @naturally.nu at the Calgary Gluten-Free Expo last weekend - she is a dietician & food blogger based in #yyc. Thank you for helping spread the word about us and our yummy honey caramels . . . Posted @withrepost @naturally.nu Youve had a long week! Put your feet up. Treat yourself. Fridays feature from the #YYC @glutenfreeexpo is @threeforagers . Three Foragers is a Canadian company that makes honey at their family farm in Saskatoon. But what makes this company ...stand out over their competitors? There are four reasons. Its their quality beekeeping, their strict harvesting standards, their minimal processing and their earth friendly packaging. Also, the fact that its raw honey allows the true flavour of the flowers to shine through. The creamed honey and comb honey are super delicious but lets talk about their caramels. These are equally amazing treats that youll love! I dare you to stop at just one. So where can you find them? Meet Zo! Zo started beekeeping at the farm this spring, and holds a few different roles with Three Foragers - she runs the market booth on Saturdays, helps with a few marketing tasks, and is often the voice behind our social media accounts (hi!). With beekeeping season wrapping up, Zo also works for Cumberland College as a tutor and advisor for the ABE programs in Muskoday and James Smith First Nations. Originally from Montral and Ottawa, Zo moved to Willow Cree Territ...ory in March where she lives with her partner. She is passionate about social & environmental activism, community wellness and learning about wild foods. Meet Andrew! Andrew is the co-owner and co-founder of Three Foragers Bee Co and manages all things beekeeping. This includes making sure hives are happy and healthy and coordinating seasonal tasks so that the farm team is keeping up with the growth of the hives. He also works closely with Angela on developing new products (mostly as a taste tester!). Andrew grew up in Calgary where he met his partner Angela. He studied Horticultural Science at University of Saskatchewan. Bees... are his #1 passion, alongside flowers and science. Andrew loves everything about beekeeping, but if he had to pick, his favourite part would be checking up on new queens to make sure theyre healthy - nothing is more satisfying to him then seeing a new queen head a new hive. He loves making new hives and witnessing how much a hive can produce. Andrew loves a bees connection to the surrounding environment: they are the perfect indicator to inform you of what the flowers are doing and how the temperature and precipitation affects all things that grow. They are a window into nature. Meet Angela! Angela is the co-owner and co-founder of Three Foragers Bee Co, and manages anything and everything to do with the retail products. On the farm, shes in charge of queen breeding for our hives, which are grown using stock from our own bees that are hardy and survive our Canadian winters well. Angela grew up in Calgary, and before she began beekeeping, she completed a Masters degree in neuroscience at the University of Victoria. She has a passion for food and eat...ing, which explains her love for playing around with honey products and creating goods that are tasty and sustainable. She also loves travelling, including visiting new farmers markets! I especially love how clean bees are. A healthy hive smells fresh, sweet and looks spotless. Bees will take out the garbage and leave the hive to use the bathroom, even in the winter! Meet Karen! She has been helping out at her familys bee farm since she was a kid, and has been an important member of the beekeeping crew for the past three summers. Originally from Calgary, Karen now lives in Regina where she will be returning next week to continue her studies in Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan. I love harvesting time because you get to witness how much honey little bees can produce, you get to see the golden honey flow. Never underestimate Kare...n when harvesting - shes always the one lifting the heaviest honey boxes! She loves animals (including her adorable pooch Finnigan), and sports like biking & running are a huge part of her life. Hailing from Mayfair, Saskatchewan, Dawson grew up rodeoing and riding horses from a young age.
